We should have attempted to pick up Lloyd Meek 24 year old ex Fremantle ruckman who I have rated as a good trade option for a few years now. He has some unrealised potential and is a baby in ruck years.
However Hawthorn have signed him and given they will be tanking for a year or two he may end up stagnating and frustrated and could be available in his prime years in 2025 or thereabouts.
Not sure what it is but he has in my opinion the physicality and touch of mongrel that good ruckmen have , something that seems to develop when they approach their late twenty’s.Comment

We need to back Ladhams in long term . But do agree would not surprise at all if Meek turns out the steal of this trade periodWe should have attempted to pick up Lloyd Meek 24 year old ex Fremantle ruckman who I have rated as a good trade option for a few years now. Meek left Freo to be a number one ruck and get games. Would not have been clear number one here with Hickey and Ladhams. A fit Hickey and a clear headed Ladhams will be a good comboComment

Especially if the AFL do away with the medi sub, and expand the interchange bench to 5, without increasing the number of interchanges each team can make.Comment

That rule change would mean most teams will play two genuine ruckmen. Let's face it, the Medi-Sub has been a farce since day one, yet another dreamed up in five minutes knee jerk rule by the VFL.Comment

I lament having seen game drift from being 18 v 18 to now possibly 23 v 23. Gap between the top & bottom teams increasing, with the top teams able to expose their greater player depth a bit further. All these changes over the last few decades being pushed by coaches for their own short term benefit under the guise of "evolving the game". Changes one after another in attempt to fix problems caused by previous changes.Comment

It's a pretty long established form of behaviour in organisations with the sort of week leadership that needs constant validation and is incapable of admitting to making a mistake - see "Emporers new clothes"Last edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 19 October 2022, 05:44 PM.Comment
