Mills went off into the rooms in the third quarter. Nothing wrong with him, just "managed minutes".

Snell's opponent just kicked 8 goals on him and he is suppose to be one of our best VFL players pushing for selection??? Our recruiting is starting to get poor. I have barely seen Bowman get a kick and they gave him an extension???Comment

My guess is Adams and Mills both come in to the seniors next week."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

McLean and Buller can't really be judged on this game - was very wet and slippery after half time. Snell may be too small for a Key position but doesn't look too fast either.
Mills in next week and probably Adams - depends on how we go tonight. Getting a bit worried about Green but again, the conditions did not suit. Lloyd actually looks on the better ones but he isnt listed is he?Comment

Not a good night for Snell but he’s better than that and was pretty much on his own down back today. Adams in next week. Buller a chance. Let’s sign Ben Edwards mid year.Comment

Report on the senior players here: Around the state leagues
* Mills played managed minutes, getting 19 disposals, 6 marks and a goal in two and a bit quarters of play.
* Adams had 29 disposals (15 contested)
* Paton had 28 disposals
* McLean was quiet with 8 disposals
* Buller had 11 disposals and one goal
* Also mentioned: Green, Kirk, Leidler, Snell.
I expect Adams will be recalled for McInerney with Mills getting one more week of managed minutes in the VFL. It could be Buller or Paton to replace Amartey.

Mills as the Sub would make sense to me, given injuries permitting, to play limited minutes after the heat has reduced. Plus, he can genuinely cover multiple positions.Comment

Snell did also struggle on Lemmey - and also had a significant height disadvantage - when he moved on to him. Lemmey only kicked seven goals for the match, not eight, but he also missed a couple of shots much simpler than the ones he converted. These were while Snell was on him. So I'm not trying to argue that Snell had the better of Lemmey, or was able to quell him. Just putting the factual record straight.Comment

I think they'd probably prefer to give Mills another game in the VFL - and they still might. But if he pulled up OK after his half on Friday, they might just bite the bullet and bring him back into the AFL team now. If they're worried about the volume of work he'd have to do as a midfielder, he could start as a medium defender to replace Francis. Maybe as a designated spare man, with Blakey taking a more opponent-responsible role. I know that's not ideal for Blakey as it stops his run somewhat. But his run can also be stopped if he is tagged in defence, so using him as a key defender (against a side whose tall attacking options aren't any more impressive than ours) might circumvent that tag.Comment

Holding jumper 49, but listed as number 50 is Ben Edwards, who did really well for our VFL side last season, after coming over from Claremont in WA. He's a tough inside mid, who wins plenty of the ball. Sometimes his disposals are a bit wayward, but if he could improve that, he could earn a promotion to the rookie list."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment
