At a wedding 2 weeks ago and a certain ex umpire told me there are 6 x 2 strikers playing. This was said on radio quite a few times recently so it is nothing new so to speak. I knew 3 of them but 2 others knocked my socks off.

On performance enhancers; there have been many that have been masked by other drugs but I believe now that has been largely overcome. The one performance enhancer that wasn't detectible in 2005 and 2006 was EPO. It has only been the last 2 years that a test has been devised for racehorses, and Beijing was the first Olympics to use the test.

Does anyone know what Cousins was taking while playing? If it was cocaine......has it been proved NOT to be performance enhancing?

And does anyone here know which particular drugs the AFL tests for?

I know that if you drink way too much alcohol, it generally doesn't enhance performance.

There is no evidence that Cousins took anything while actually playing. He never tested positive to even out of match day testing, let alone to match day testing. (As I understand it, no-one has - other than Justin Charles many years ago - for that would result in an automatic ban. The three strikes rule only applies to out of match day testing.)

Really? He was/is a drug addict. Almost certainly addicted to a stimulant. Can you please explain how a drug addict could control their abuse of a stimulant to avoid being affected on a match day? If Cousins did that this is an extraordinary achievement in the history of drugs and sport. There is strong circumstantial evidence against your assertion. In horse racing positive drug tests are not the only evidence that is considered by the stewards in determining whether a horse has been presented with a prohibited substance. An admission by a trainer that an animal was addicted to a stimulant would disqualify a horse from competative racing. AFL is not about horses of course but something close - an ass and Cousins is a disgrace.

Nico some racehorses have had a gay old time on EPO.

After posting that I was reading the paper and saw that we weren't particiapting as well, and thought maybe I was wrong. I was thinking about the number of players we lost(delisted/retired) and the number we've gained Shaw+3 National Drafts,+the rookies(Pike, Cooney). So not sure now.

I've heard a very high profile player is on 2 strikes, and won't reach 3.

I was just talking to one of my budgie friends from Wait Awhile (yes, it's early over there) ... he's quite shocked that no-one wants the "ex"-junkie. He can't understand (or see) why no-one wants to pick him up.

                            Pursuit of Grand Final

The failure of any club to pick up Cuz, so far, means that all but the Cats & Hawks think they have teams that measure up to the real challenge of a Grand Final win in 2009. My personal assessment is that our team is just not good enough. I'm not putting them down . We need CUZ......its a risk....but look what Judd has done for Carlton....made them more competitive. CUZ could be our edge.....the spark....the difference between competing in a grand final or just being ALSO RANS . I'm greedy enough to want to experience another 2005. (Row R. Seat 10 middle of goals) We would be fools to bypass the opportunity to seize the chance of grabbing him.
