Such a shame that he is unable to participate this week.

I think Kurt has been a good addition for us since Round 12. Hopefully in 2014 (and the Granny if we make it and he comes up) we find a game plan to effectively use his presence better. He really needs Reid (or similar) as a foil. It would also be nice if he got something occasionally from the umpires and kicks straighter.

But overall, I am happy with his season and bullish on his future prospects in red and white.

Sorry...as demonstrated in the Hawks game Rd 23 and then the following week. With Tippett we are one dimentional...without all players have a go at goal and the opposition has no idea what to do. Commentators even notice it and have started to talk about it, quite often during the Carlton Game.

How to solve a problem called Tippett......clearly TOP player...but when he always will have two defenders on him he can't suceed.

But if he is drawing two defenders, then there will be one less defender for "all players to have a go at goal"
Don't get me wrong, I tend to agree in principle, as per previous posts I have made on this issue.
Point is, we should be able to work around it.
I'd suggest that where we really lost out with the 11 game suspension was not having enough games before finals to develop alternate "Tippett game plans"

I'm changing Tipoff's name to Paper Mache.

Oh well, at least it wasn't a concussion!
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.

Oh, well if BT and Richo are saying it, it must be right...

We smashed Carlton in the midfield.

Maybe if we lose Mummy, KT goes into the ruck and Jesse and Sam operate in tandem up forward???

I don't know about this. If Tippett rucks, not only will he be the most expensive ruckman in the history of ever but the best opposition defender will go to Reid again and we'll be back where we started. If Mumford leaves, I think they'll have to poach another ruck from someone else.

As Mug Punter commented in another thread "clearly we need to bed Tippett down into our structure" - I'm still unsure whether we can.

While his goal tally was pretty impressive, Tippett doesn't appear to be much more mobile than whichever ruckman is resting up forward. Two towering marking targets is great (especially if they can stop competing with each other and learn to separate) but some of our opponents are already starting to exploit this lack of mobility, more will follow that example. Even if Mummy doesn't leave I suspect Horse may revisit the idea of playing only one real ruckman next year.
