Could it be is that all this Tippet trade talk will cause some other club to pay a million a year for him. Nothing wrong with us driving up the price for someone else to pay. Make the offer, offer little trade options and watch Carlton or Brisbane out bid each other in the Tippet auction.

        Absolutely not!

I just hope like hell we do not grab a bloke who has only tried hard for a couple of games this year. We need a solid bloke who can take a catch and convert. For me, Tippet brings Pyke's place into doubt and I also believe that Tippett has had a very casual attitude whilst at the Crows.

          I'll take Tippet no problems.
          Just what we need IMO.

My tip is Grundy, White and a second round pick for him.

Basing my opinion on improving the team, I can live without either of those players.

            Oh yeah forgot to say.

Something I haven't seen menyioned in this thread is the one big thing the Swans have in their favour to get Tippet.
            Premiers.
Money vs the chance at winning a flag means that I doubt that we are talking the numbers being brandished about.
what we have to do is beat otehr bids and we should be in.

Still don't know how we can get the deal done with Adelaide.

I think we would be looking at using Tippett as a permanent FF, Pyke stays as 2nd ruck so where does that leave LRT, unless it's to the backlines to replace Grundy :-(

Not happy we're involved in this potential deal.

Alan on that basis should we just pop Grundy up in the forward line ?

Nope, you nailed it - I absolutely rate Reg and the work he's done. But I'd do the Tippett/Grundy trade in a heart-beat (while recognising some Crows fans may feel they are getting the raw end of the deal...).

Just for a bit of perspective, grundy held roughhead goalless (I think?) in the grand final.

He did, Tippett to swans, Grundy not part of deal.

As much as i rate tippett i would be disapointed if the swans traded grundy to get him. Give draft picks and edge players sure but our second best tall backman i hope not.

..and grundy came 7th in our B&F.

Grundy is a class player who performs on the biggest stage. Im not saying dont trade him for Tippet. I'm saying dont undersell him. He's worth heaps, and given the key defender exodus at crowland, someone they would desperately need.
But in the cold reality of football, we need a player like Tippet more than we need grundy...but not by much.

I don't see how we could play Reid, Tippett, LRT, Grundy, Pyke, Mumford, Johnson & Richards all in the same team - too many talls for a squad of 22. I actually thought we were a bit top heavy for the GF also (although that clearly turned out ok), but not sure if I would want to play a full season with that structure.

Not sure if I am reading you correctly, Auntie Gerald. You are saying forget any trades and move Reg to F50? I am saying don't swap any of our favourites for Tippet. But go and get a F50 gorilla who can catch and kick

                                Tippett?

Worried that LRT will crash into Tippett or vice versa.
Anyway we've never had a Kurt have we? He's coming!
