We've turned over our list significantly and just delivered a premiership under a new coach in his 3rd year. AMAZING! Without our best team on the ground too.
I just hope they look after any player that may form part of this trade and not send them to SA unless that is their destination of choice. I also hope they send any players to decent teams and not cellar dwellars.
BTW isn't Jesse's partner an Adelaide girl?
Can't wait to see what Taubert, Henry, Stewie et al make of Tippett if he comes.
Admire your loyalty but I won't miss the Big Jesse one bit.

Be honest, frustrating and annoying are the only words to describe him.

In the 30 years supporting the Swans, until now, I've always had a player who has given me the @@@@s. A long line from Dale Lewis to Nick Davis and onto Ben Matthews.... The great thing about this side is I do not have a players I love to hate. Except for the Big Jesse - there is something the way he throws that gigantic frame around like a ballerina that makes me want to scream.

Honestly, can you see any other club wanting him?

      A few comments...

If you don't look ahead, you fall behind.
Times have changed and these days the better teams aren't resting on their current teams.

Swans have always traded well, and I think this will also be a good one if it comes off.

every trade is fraught with risk. every player on a list is a risk.
You never know when injury will strike, just ask Rohan.
Depth is king. Luck is queen

People are kidding themselves if they think we won't have to trade a premiership player.
For me Grundy is one I can deal with moving on. So is White, and probabluy a couple of otehrs.
That is just me wishing - I have little doubt that we'll end up losing a player who will be missed much more, but that's the nature of trading

I'm glad he wants to come to teh Swans - certainly willing the flag has helped us out a bit. That and our culture.

To be fair there will a lot of pressure on Tippett if he does come. Given that he will clearly be one of the best paid, or THE best paid player at the club we will have high expectations given the quality we already have. It could get ugly if he doesn't perform...

I trust the club but there is an element of risk to this move, as I guess there are to all high profile trades...

Ordinarilly that would be the case, I guess it depends on how legally and morally binding the agreement to allow him to move is.

At any moment the whole trade and draft system could be busted out of the water by a disgruntled player or renegade club on Restraint of Trade. The AFL knows that and that's usually why when a player publicly says "I want to go to XXXX" that a deal is usually done. IF Adelaide have made that concession then their hands are largely tied, except for maybe getting First Round, not Second and perhaps a fringe player or later draft pick.

          Guess time will tell.

I think the "Conditional" part of the four year deal is a reference to a trade being made rather than a reference to any of the years of the contract being conditional.

              39 goals in 21 games.
158 hit outs, and an average of 12 disposals per game.

              Not bad for a hack.

Some astute trading and he'll fit in nicely.

I can't see any other action from us except for players that wish to further their careers in axchange for picks as you'd think KT would soak up most of our salary cap that is left. TDL, Moore and even Seaby (good 2-3 years left) could be attract some interest.

Retaining some of the truly silly posts found on this thread could be a laugh next year. Some of the suggestions/speculation/wishes concerning Grundy, Kennedy (FCS), Parker are trade meat are as much disrespectful as they are dumb. Suggesting that Seaby has 2-3 left and potentially tradable was icing on the laughter cake.

Good to see though that most trust the club to AGAIN make the right decision for the betterment of the club.
Fully agree with you Al. This club has proven itself over the past 15 years as premiers in the trade stakes. You would think our members would have enough faith in our recruitment approach get this deal done and protect our premiership players. Dear me.

I imagine the senior players are involved, that he was discussed and possible trade options discussed. The club must know what its prepared to give, ill back them in.

I dont want to see some of the player mentioned on crows boards go, rohan parker etc. i know grundy is sth australian but dont want him to go either

I thik tippett will be good for us though. He is a good player and should be ready to peak

I apologise to anyone I may have upset by my comment on page 26 of this thread about another persons opinion on here. I did not mean for it to be construed as a personal attack, which it may have been - if was meant to be just a bit of banter, but has been interpreted otherwise. If I could edit the post, I would remove that part of the comment but it does not seem that function is available at the moment (or at least for older comments like that)?

Back on topic, I will again make the same statement I did in that post - we should have faith in the ability of our club to undertake trading, player movement etc to better the team. They have proven, time and time again that they are able to identify a target, pursue them, get a deal done, and almost always (not always of course, but nobody is perfect) we are a winner out of the deal. If you want evidence of their excellence, look no further than our Premiership team of last Saturday

I have no doubt chasing Tippett is following the same path trodden before with our trading. It is clear that we could use another key forward to build our forward line around, and he is pretty close to the best available. I still doubt how we will get a trade done, but that's something for someone else to trade. If we can turn Mitch Morton into a valuable member of the Premiership side, then I have no doubt our club can turn Tippett's potential into sustained high levels of performance.

Never underestimate the benefits a change of environment can bring. For whatever reason, despite all the good things at our club, Sydney has not been the place for Jesse to reach his full potential. He may or may not get a chance elsewhere but I would not assume that another club cannot get results where we have not.

I can see plenty of clubs wanting jesse. but i find it hard to believe that they will produce a draft pick which is anywhere near high enough to get this deal done.

People need to get their heads around that we will be losing something of value to get something of value.

This is why I dont really like this. I guess that I am happier if the draft and trade is done without all of this public pressure and speculation. The value we will lose we all know. If it is rohan (and I am absolutely unashamedly the greatest rohan fan on earth) I will be ropeable. I feel exactly the same about AJ, parker and players like jetta hanners and jack are the absolute future of the club for ten years.

For each of you that says we have traded so successfully - well lets just remember the name of a premiership player who went on a free who became an all australian ? and i think the core of our youngsters are actually all capable of being all australian.

We won by making a team that played for each other and less than a week afterwards we're suggesting that we are absolutely willing to tear it apart. I know we are intending to improve the side and i really do feel tippett will improve it but the guys i have been cheering are the guys i know and want to cheer. I would be gutted if we let anyone go who wanted to stay out of our best 25. they all contributed this year and each win was so special.
