After reading several pages from Crow fans on BF, this seems to be the main reason they feel hardly done by in the proposed trade with us. If Tippett can be picked up in either draft, what is to stop Sheedy from getting in first? I don't think any gentlemen's agreement will prevent him.

Let's cut to the chase on this debate. Have we, on any authority, any reason to be sure that the Swans are the only team capable of squeezing Tippett in under the salary cap? GWS has an enormous cap and they are just playing kids who surely can't be on big money yet.
But there are many other reasons I don't think GWS will take him. They have lots of potential star players that will have to be accommodated in the future and KT only adds to the problem. They also have 2 gun forwards in Patton and Cameron and probably feel committed to playing Izzy Folau next year as well, given he is the poster boy for the team. Adding Tippett to that forward line is not going to help in the long term development of those players. So why take someone who doesn't want to be at your club and is likely to throw a spanner into the works of the development of your young stars.
I can see GWS wanting to have a competitive relationship with the Swans, but grabbing Tippett will ignite a hostile one. Surely they know they will be paid back in spades if they do that.
In any case, it would be just too dumb for Adelaide to let him go for nothing.Comment

No, but he can be forced to sit out of football for a year or two if he is picked by GWS in the draft. Or even if he states that he won't go to GWS after the trade period ends and before the draft. He is allowed to refuse to be traded there.Comment

Sorry Liz, on rereading the article, it wasn't Andrew Ireland but the Swans in General. Have the paper in front of me now. Yesterday's Herald Sun in an article about Clinton Young going to Collingwood. Can't find it on the web, but I'll cite the short paragraph word for word from my hard copy.
"And Sydney yesterday emphatically denied growing rumours Swans player Luke Parker would be traded to a Melbourne club, giving a high pick to the premiers they could pass on to Adelaide for Kurt Tippett."Those who have the greatest power to hurt us are those we love.Comment

If the earlier article by Rucci was correct, the Crows don't currently have space for Jesse, and all their players are currently contracted so they would have to find a taker for one of their players if they were to accommodate Jesse. I just don't see that happening. It's pick 23 or bust (aka PSD)Comment
