I note that you said 'form' not 'value' but how many goals did KT kick for Adelaide this year? How many did Adam Goodes kick for the Swans? And AG was out for 5-6 weeks! I admit that I did not see KT's game against the Hawks where he is said to have starred but I did see his game against the Swans where I didn't even notice him.

Micky O's article in the Telegraph is very interesting. He has a message for KT from a former 'Blood', that if he does indeed get to the Swans will have to prove himself like everyone else and win the trust of the established players.

I hope in fact that that will be the case, that he will be 'the knight in shining armour' that many are hoping he will be and that when he gets to 32 years his record will be as good as that of AG but to suggest that his form for the Crows over the past few years has been around the same as that of AG for the Swans, is slightly, well, offensive - at least to me.
Rojo never did I compare Goodes of old............It is a fair comment to compare the last few seasons as Goodes has had plenty of very average games and has been struggling to play the deep forward role which is not his normal go but he did the job when required !

secondly these opportunities only come every so often.........ie to find a key Forward........he cant play worse then at Adelaide and lets be honest a key forwad only starts to hit their straps 24yrs of age onwards.........

the issue is that we have Goodes close to retirement........we have some how put a forward line together with some makeshift players and it worked ie LRT and Mike rotating thru as talls.

Roo's has always said that we need to be a top 8 team to maintain sponsorship and maintaining a viable club

so I am not saying KT will ride into town and score 60 goals.........I am saying he will allow us to play a field position style of football which is the core of the bloods gameplan......he will ensure a very good target to bring the ball down as a mark or as a contest we can challenge

I simply want us to evolve and that a player like KT coupled with our youth and mid aged players will provide us with the best chance. He also allows Sammy Reid to have massive freedom leading through the front third of the field.........that is a massive draw card for me !

I am very happy to be wrong but lets review in 12months from now if KT joins and lets review in 12months from now if he doesnt !

I'm a bit puzzled as to why KT is getting so much 'unlove'from here.

Sydney has a chance to get a genuine ,experienced, talented, young tall forward for $$ only..no trades, no giving up any good players.

I don't recall much bellyaching about Sam Reid's contract upgrade..serious dollars there!

Hanging onto Hanners and Smithy won't be cheap and thetre won't be any hassles from here, I'm sure.

800k will seem cheap in a couple of years if this guy performs as the recruiters obviously expect.

I , for one, am keeping my powder dry, for at least two seasons.

        Agree with above 2 posts.

We had only 1 serious weakness last season, which we all recognised as FF. Now we found that FF. He was really the only one available anyway. Let's get behind him and hope for the best.

For heavens sake ..it is the sign of a good human being to give a person a chance...I have always liked the way he tried hard even when out of position or double teamed...just as Reid does.

Good for you satch. One other thing that should be considered, and I am sure this is part of the parcel factor. We have (if we get KT) a ready made afl player, the club doesn't have to spend $250/$400th to train him to afl standard. He's an off the rack ready to go player of recognised ability.

We have spent money on Ted, the kids, etc. and it is worth it. Shaw has improved, but that didn't take all that much time. We got a bargain in Marty.

The honest facts are that Goodsey is 30's, sose Jude and Peb. Marty and LRT are brushing the 30 fence. And shockingly Benny is 28 (maybe 27, no I think I am right here, 28). KT is 25. All said and done, its a battle ship ready to launch when the fleet gets tired.

I am sure things will work out just fine.

              Tippett?

I am liking the moderate views coming out now. I'm sure a lot of us remember the frustration where in 2011 and in parts of 2012 the slingshot only made it halfway and midfielders were simply bombing long to try and get the ball to the forwards. I for one screamed at the telly and in the stands when they did that. Hopefully with KT in the forward line, we'll be able to cut that out completely.

I know we won a premiership with our current forward line but still, a little assistance will help for sure

I'm very happy. The club doesn't make too many blunders. This is a huge decision and I'd be very confident that they've considered all factors.

We've got quite a few blokes in the twilight of their careers who would be on good dough.

''The player that we'll pick in the draft will be as good a player as Kurt Tippett, but nowhere near the cost. At $900,000, we thought we'd let that one go through to the keeper and we'll pick a player round about the same style.''

Read more: Tippett's talent below his price - Sheedy

my guess is that Sheedy has stretched the truth again on Kurt and used him as a hand grenade...........ie the $900k is the last 3 years of his contract ie

                  2013 might be $500k
                  2014 might be $900k
                  2015 might be $900k
                  2016 might be $900k

equals $3.2mill over 4 years is my guess ie $800k pa

we had to pay a price for out bidding others and that is always how it will be being in Sydney !

To answer my own question it looks like only 7 clubs will take part in the PSD (According to the AFL website)

"The trend (in the rookie draft) will be more prevalent in the pre-season draft, where there are likely to be only seven selections.

Greater Western Sydney holds two picks but might only take one, with ruckman Dean Brogan set to be re-drafted by the Giants.

The Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide, Essendon, Fremantle (two picks), Adelaide and the Sydney Swans are the only other clubs likely to participate, but Fremantle could only use one selection.

Richmond is set to sit out the pre-season draft and instead choose to enter next year with 38 players on its senior list and six rookies.

The Bulldogs appear likely to recruit former Essendon and Geelong midfielder Brent Prismall, but there is a chance the club will look closely at Brett Goodes, the experienced Williamstown VFL player who is the brother of Sydney Swans co-captain Adam Goodes.

There is also the chance the club will hold over its pick to the rookie draft instead of adding another player to its primary list.

The Power will use its PSD selection to draft Sam Colquhoun, the South Australian surprisingly overlooked in last month's draft.

The Bombers' pick in the pre-season draft is likely to be used on a player training with the club, with Dayle Garlett, Will Hams, Chris DeLuca and Steve Boldasso in the mix.

Jesse Crichton is to be given a second chance by Fremantle, but it could be through the rookie draft, while Adelaide (Nick Joyce) and the Sydney Swans (Kurt Tippett) have already committed to their pre-season draft targets."

So according to my calculations and the info above, the most likely outcome is -

                    1. GWS Dean Brogan
                    2. Western Bullies Brent Prismal (or Brett Goodes)
                    3. Port Adelaide Sam Colquhoun
                    4. Essendon Dale Garlett (or one of three others)
                    5. Fremantle Jesse Crichton
                    6. Adelaide Nick Joyce
                    7. Sydney Kurt Tippett
                    8. GWS ???
                    9. Freo ???

                      That's a very good point!

When considering his salary, we should take into account all the cost savings by getting a ready made player, as Primmy points out. No wonder Adelaide are so pissed off. They also trained up Bock, Davis and Gunston for other teams to plunder.

It's also worth considering the cap is larger than it used to be, so 900k is the proportional equivalent of less money in previous years. Tippett may not even be eating up much more of the cap than Bradshaw in percentage terms.

How many genuine power forwards are there in the AFL? I haven't counted them but it's a tiny number and we may have the opportunity next Tuesday to get one of them for free.

Focus on what Tippett can do when he's on song, I think on Fox Sunday morning the Hawthorn Adelaide Prelim is being shown. Watch that to see if you want Tippett in red and white next year. I've watched every Swans game from this year in the past couple of weeks and Sam Reid often gets the oppositions best defender. In late 2013 will that defender still be going to Sam or will he be going to the 202cm, 100kg mobile FF we got for free? Will that help Sam?

A lot of water to flow under the bridge before we can make a judgement but if we do get to select Tippett next Tuesday we should be feeling very happy for at least half a season!

                              A few things

Barry hall game to Sydney at 24 and a 40 goal forward. Look at how he improved. I have no doubt in three years he will be more of a ruck than forward, as he slows. Taubert will work wonders with him.

Seriously, I have never had any respect for Adelaide. Always viewed them as a manufactured invention of a marketing consultant, soulless football club that exists as a money spinner for the SANFL.

The past eight weeks has reinforced that. Tippet will be a better player in Sydney. A real football club, not a 'franchise'

The money will be seen as nothing in a few years
