    Hi Everyone,

I have just come back from 3 months of missionary work in Burkina Faso.

I see we got Kurt Tippet. Gee, that was easy.

Hey how come we are up to page 263?

    Jeff.

      I hope he can:
      1. Kick 100 goals in 11 weeks; and
      2. Not get a bump on the head in those 11 weeks.

      I'm patient.
I can wait to say I told you so.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

Correct. Al is correct. A great coup and we didn't have to lose any players (that we wanted to keep).

I think saying we got him for "free" is a little more dubious as a statement of fact. We have to pay him for 11 games where he is unavailable due to suspension.

Nevertheless, well done us (providong he does deliver something on the paddock during his 1.5 season tenure).

Fantastic news! Truly, a great outcome for our team. The accolades though have to go to the Swans' recruitment team - Kinnear Beatson & co. When you review their results over the past decade, these guys are the leaders in the field - great professionals who really know how to play the recruitment game. Tippett on a two year deal without having to give up any player or draft picks; great new youngsters; Cunningham, Smith, AJ, Parker, Rohan - a wealth of talent to move us forward over the next five years. Amazing outcome. Beatson and co deserve a standing ovation and a medal from Bobby Skilton.

Final Thoughts: (from me at least)

                - He's a class player who we got without giving up ANYTHING in the way of players or Draft picks. (Anyone doubts he's class please pull out the Prelim final and then imagine he's happy and wants to be at the club.

                - Secondly the guys who have just won the flag and have an incredible track record in recruitment want him and think he'll add to our already formidable squad.

                - Also no one here knows what contract he's on or what plans the club has for the contracts of other players. Anyone here seriously believe they haven't put in concerted thought on how best to keep all our guns and pay them accordingly.

                - He's only 25 so his recruitment is aimed at not just next year but keeping us strong when the older guys retire in coming years.

                    im happy

sponsors alone will be lining up to jump on the sydney bandwagon after a GF win in 2012 and a team with a key forward like tippett is a top 4 team without doubt for 2013

so the extra $ to have a player like Kurt take over in yrs to come in the key forward role is totally worth it

plus what else could we do ? how else could we secure a key forward to replace the likes of Goodes and also to allow Reid t flourish ?

Not at all. I was merely saying that his indiscretions are now forgiven and I am supporting him because he is a Swan. I've never been thought of as 'sour' before but even at my age there is a first time for everything..

I haven't been on the boards for a while, but thought that I would make a visit now that the Tippett saga has finally concluded. The title change nearly had me worried that someone had started a new one (but then I saw the post count and knew that everything was as it should be).

The Swans have Tippett! What a world - what a thread!

Feel Good Story of the Year

Poor boy born in Sydney, but taken away to the Gold Coast when he is only a baby. Is forced to grow up among hookers, drunks and Japanese tourists.

Exiled to Adelaide where he is corrupted by unscrupulous corporate executives hell bent on ending his career in disrepute. Forced to work at a bakery making inedible pastries.

Finally, rescued by a (Red and) White knight, where he can finally play the game he loves in footy heaven.

                          A real tearjerker!
