Jeff Garlett anyone ? Can kick em through the big sticks, bit one dimensional and lazy but potentially the swans system could sort that out. I'd have him, we don't have any professional small forwards, Benny is better in the thick of it IMO.

Just thinking. Maybe the swans are keeping their powder dry this year and going hard for the free agents next year. Danger, Sloane and others! Heeney, Davis, Hiscox acedemy kids and another player or two. Cleaning out some dead wood this year and maybe Shaw and Goodes finish at the end of next year.Comment

Article in the HUN interviewing Beatson, says we'll take all three nominations, they fit our needs, hoping we don't have to use our first three picks but thinks we might be forced to.
I'll be really interested in the bidding from 10am tomorrow, hope other clubs aren't ganging up behind the scenes to shaft us. You can depend on Collingwood making it tough and stirring up the other clubs.
Reckon the best we can hope for is to be left our second rounder, about pick 39-40Comment

Not quite sure why Beatson would show his hand like that. He's pretty much inviting other clubs to bid second and third round picks for Davis and Hiscox.Comment

Yes it was made to sound a fait accompli. And yet besides some passing references to Saints and Dogs there doesn't seem to have been anything particularly concrete written has there?Comment

I've heard Membrey has agreed to a 3-year deal with St Kilda, just waiting for the 2 clubs to agree to a trade now.Comment

Unless the Swans see something in those two that ressie watchers don't?? I seem to remember comments that they could fall to the rookie draft and now there's talk of second rounders???Comment

I found this quote from Beatson very interesting as well, especially since most pundits say this is one of best years for KPPs:
The Dogs have interest in Sydney?s Sam Reid but Swans list manager Kinnear Beatson was emphatic yesterday.
?They have never asked the question and we wouldn?t contemplate it anyway,?? he told the Herald Sun.
?And certainly not in a draft that hasn?t got many key-position types.?Last edited by Ludwig; 5 October 2014, 10:06 PM.Comment

I can only conclude that there is a bigger more complex deal developing between the Saints and Swans which includes Membrey.Comment

There are lots of possible things you could conclude, including the fact that the trading period hasn't actually started yet so it's not possible to conclude anything...Comment

I'd guess that at the lower draft end clubs would not risk offering a selection just to nullify another club's choices - that club would need to be entirely confident of the player's worth, just in case they had to take him. Beatson probably has a pretty good idea of other club's views on these players. Bidding for the sake of it is risky from a practical standpoint - every list place decision is critical - and while perceptions may not bother some clubs, it's not a good look either.Comment
