Premiership defender Craig Bird? Not sure I can trust that report if that's the kind of accuracy that two reporters can come up with

This from afl.com.au; 'The Swans and Essendon have also been pursuing out-of-contract Gold Coast ruckman Zac Smith, along with Geelong.

It is understood Smith, who has yet to inform the Suns that he wants a trade, is now leaning towards the Swans and Geelong if he decides to leave Metricon Stadium.'
In fact, the whole article, Trade whispers: Bird could fly from Swans - AFL.com.au is interesting. Has stuff on Bird, Leuenberger, Sinclair and Lycett as well. Edit: Sorry Levii3, didn't see your post, I posted from previous page!

If we are considering trading Bird and that Melbourne could be a destination for him then i think we'd be mad not to try and do a deal for Jack Watts! I really feel that a player with his talent could thrive in a stronger side in the right role and Sydney would be a perfect place for him to go considering all the pressure thats been on him in the Melbourne media! I really feel it could be a win/win trade for both players and clubs!

          Make it happen Kinnear!

Great to see others now getting on board lets do the deal I am convinced he would thrive out of the Melbourne fish bowl

you would hope Jack would do a Teddy and become that dominant FB or CHB that can go with the athletic tall fast forward but Jack is still very light and his decision making still scares me

In 2005 we had a tall skinny CHB with poor decision making and he went on to be a finals specialist for 10 years.

Bird should stay in sydney with us or the giants. Local players are valuable

I would be happy to give Watts a chance. He does seem to be a good kick and have good vision, even if he doesn't always make the best choice, but that could be a product of the team he is playing in lacking any consistency.

LRT played hard, and harder in finals. Watts wouldn't crush a grape. Very soft whilst defending, never puts his body in line with ball or body. LRT just went for the ball and accepted the pain that was giving or getting without thought.

That article on AFL.com sure has us with a lot of irons in the fire. FA are valuable for us so we don't diminish our points.

If we got WCE first rounder 17/18 we would have some real options open to us. We could use it to trade in a very good player or swap it for two late 20s picks worth more points in total as there will be several clubs looking for an extra first rounder to get high profile deals over the line.

Damien Barrett seems to think Fremantle are now looking closer at Jetts now that Bennell seems to be going to Richmond, Freo's pick is 15 or 16?
Iam not totally dismissive to the idea to get Jack Watts but we've lost three or our best run and carry players in just two years (Jetts, Mal, Shaw) we need to have a look at Gws's Curtly Hampton, Pies Paul Seedsman to provide the burst out of our back half.

Freo has pick 16, WCE pick 17. I can't see how McCarthy from GWS, just don't have the currency unless a fairly good player goes too so maybe they are resigned to missing Bennell and McCarthy hence the interest in the more easily obtained Jetta.

Hampton is from Alice Springs via Adelaide and I think has an Adelaide girlfriend hence his request to go there.

So Freo or WCE first rounder on traded to a needy club for more points from two late 20's picks, ruck solved by FA Leuey, trade pick 15 for a good player - done!
