All the talk is that Leuenberger will either be playing for Sydney or Essendon next season...surely we would have to be the more attractive proposition.
I wasn't overly keen on him but I watched some highlights from this year and he did have some pretty decent games, particularly against Freo/Sandi where he collected 50 hit-outs, 9 tackles and 2 goals as well.
Going hard for a ready-made ruckman probably indicates that Pyke's knees are about shot, and that we want Tip playing 60-70% of the game as a stay at home forward. As the rotations come down it should give big hulking forwards like Tip, Hawkins, Cloke etc. more one on one opportunities because in theory players will be too tired to push back as hard as they currently do.
If we do land Leuenberger it will be interesting to see if Nank retains his place on the list. 4 back-up ruckman (Nankervis, Naismith, TomD, Mike) seems excessive, and big Toby is the only one not contracted as far as I know?
