I wouldn't make too much of the 2 Leonardis 'Like' clicks that he made (I believe) in February. We should remember that a considerable majority of Australians have 'anti-Goodes' sentiments and it would not be unusual for Leonardis to have friends with these views. He didn't make any active contribution to anti Goodes comments and the comments themselves were not overtly racist. I'm sure plenty of Freo fans posted comments like Sam Mitchell is a flog and a wanker after the kneeing incident. These kids are influenced by what the hear from the adults around them. I think we need to show a bit of tolerance when it comes to teenagers and give consideration to where their get these ideas.
Most Australians can use an education in our history and Leonardis just happens to be one of them. I suggest to all to listen to Stan Grant's first up speech that was broadcast as part of a racism debate on Radio National's Big Ideas last week. It should be compulsory listening for all Australians.

It was one of the most moving speeches I've ever heard. It starts with a reference to the Adam Goodes booing incidents. I have been outspoken about racism since my youth and was surprised how much pain I still felt after listening to Stan's speech.
. . . .. . .. . . . . . .
Given the draft picks we had, I thought we did okay. It might have turned out that we ended up using all our picks just to get Mills. That we were still able to recruit a couple of reasonable prospects besides is a bonus.
We probably had a deal with Dunkley to help him get to a Victorian club if possible, and I'm pleased with that if it is the case. I think he'll go well with the Bulldogs.
As Beatson remarked, we wanted to add some speed and skill and it seems that we did. Whether Leonardis and Dawson are good enough to make the grade, only time will tell. Not too many picked in the 50s do, but they were good finds by Beatson to have had them on his list.
There were a lot of KPDs in this draft and one is likely to be available at pick 14 in the rookie draft, so maybe we will add another one there. I still like this kid Hisham Kerbatieh, and would take him if he slips through.Comment

Assuming all clubs take rookies, our first pick is 14 then 32, 50. Should get someone we rate with 14 but after that it's a raffle.
GWS doesn't seem to have rookies at present, probably because their main list has more than the regulation 40 and is chock full of high draft picks so they may not participate. That would bring us in one place.Comment

Agree with the 'over reaction' camp.
Not the smartest thing to do, but it's quite obvious (to me anyway) that those 'likes' were well in the past and he had forgotten all about them. If, as he said happened, the Swans had shown interest and visited him both at home and at the combine, surely he would have been smart enough to 'unlike' those pages if he had even remembered he had liked them in the first place.
I know I personally have a much more educated and informed understanding of indigenous issues just from being a Swans fan and absorbing the whole Goodes saga, so I'm sure it will be a great learning experience for him and he will more than likely come out the other side better for it as well.
Well. last February, not that long ago...and as for the second emboldened point, he'd better learn from it, as we don't want that sort of BS at our club. IMO he's started on a negative note with both the club and fans and has a lot to prove to the club that he has offended and that has given him a chance at AFL, and as a result, he will be under scrutiny. Not very impressed with this young man. For someone who saw his future in the AFL, it was an extremely stupid thing to do. I foresee that he may end up at Collingwood......after no senior games with us. All I can say is, he'd better be bloody good, because, to an extent, he's already on the outer.

I think we take too much from social media. Tyrones actions should really be measured by interaction with the Swans staff, his actions on the field and how he progresses as a player and a person in the Swans family.
I'm just sick to death of execution by social media.Comment

I pretty much respect everything our recruiters do..always have done.
But I can't believe there is an employer anywhere in Australia these days who, as part of their due diligence on prospective employees, fails to check their face book pages.
And, if these alleged 'likes' were visible at that time, I can't believe he would have been offered employment in the Swans environment.
So, either the check was not done, or it was done and the 'likes' were deemed acceptable.
Either way, I'm unimpressed.
On the basis of him thinking Goodesy should be Wanker of the Year he should not have been selected. Suspect his papers may be stamped pretty early and just let to rot in the 2s unless he really knuckles down. And a meeting with Goodesy to teach him some decent values.
Mills had better be a gun!Comment

so no doubt we will
take Marsh back thru the Rookie Draft
plus pick 14
the other picks could be sydney academy players ?"be tough, only when it gets tough"

The softest explanation is that he doesn't really think that, he's just a sheep. Personally I'd prefer people who aren't sheep in my football club.He ate more cheese, than time allowedComment

I agree. In my opinion at least 70% of Victorians think the same way he does about Goodsie. Australians are inherently racist. You just have to scratch the surface. Goodsie scratched and then tore the veneer away and exposed Australians for what they really are, intolerant bastards. This kid will learn a huge lesson from being involved with Buddy, Goodsie, Micky O, Abaina Davis & co.We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!Comment

Swans overlook Dunkley in draft - sydneyswans.com.au
might have been mentioned already but Kinnear stated that we will go with definitely two Rookies and maybe 3 in the Rookie Draft only
he stated there was still approx 15 players that they liked that will fold into the Rookie Draft
maybe another Harry C ?Today's a draft of your epitaphComment

I think it's clear who the flog was for liking those sites. We have to remember that he was a silly teenager doing silly stuff. I'm not condoning racism and nastiness ... hell, I've been on the receiving end of my fair share, but I know that sometimes teenagers act like idiots. I was one once too. We have to give this kid a break I think. He would have copped a lot of crap in the last 24 hours and I'm not one for perpetually crucifying someone. Goodes is a legend - no doubting it. He will remain one. Tyrone has to grow into a man now. Maybe this is one of the biggest lessons he's going to learn in his first year.We have them where we want them, everything is going according to plan!Comment
