Would be very happy if this is the case.

It would see us having one of the best balanced lists in the comp and one that should be serious contenders for the flag in the next four years. Can see us going for mids in the draft this year.

If we do re-sign then it really puts us in control of the Tippett situation. If affordable I think we should keep him on the list, I'd hate to only have Naismith and Sinclair as our experienced rucks.

Wow! Assuming it's true that's brilliant news.

No news from the club yet re the rumoured Jones & Reid signings.
That makes me a bit nervous.
Wild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.

If the signings are in the bank then there's no reason to rush the announcements. They'll save it for the opportune media window to gain the most exposure.

In ALL the years I've been following this team, they've only once banked an announcement (Buddy).
What's the point in signing them and not telling everyone?
            It's something to boast about.

That's not true though. I heard confirmation of Heeney's contract extension 36 hours before it was announced on Swans social media. They basically never announce a contract at the moment it's signed.

The announcements are controlled by the Swans public relations & media team who will definitely pick the best time slot to announce it. I don't mean that they'll wait 2 months, but there is no point in them rushing an announcement at 9pm on a Monday night when they could use it as their mid-week headline at 10am on a Wednesday (or whatever time they deem will gain the most exposure).

If true, it would mean we have every key player signed up until about 2021 which is stunning list management, albeit contracts manager will be busy as in 2021!

Hopefully there's a little left in the bank for some targeted recruiting in areas of need. End of 2018 has a number of fringe players with expiring contracts that will free up some cap space if needed, plus we need to resign guys like Aliir and Newman.

I see you read bf. If you can sift through the garbage on there it's a good place to gather information. We should have a sticky thread like the contract one

Yes, thought it was an interesting list so I kept a copy. So much uninformed/uninsightful/stupid dross on BF. The most hilarious stuff relates to trading where idiots package up 3 or 4 of their fringe players to get a quality player/high draft pick from another club. One can only assume these people are primary school kids or imbiciles!

I see Dawson expires end of 2019, I'm wondering if he will have had a debut by then :-)

I like the trading/drafting board mainly for the drafting stuff. Same again you just got to wade through the crap, mind you I've seen some good ones on here but there's not a lot. The majority on RWO appear to have their head screwed on. On Dawson the difficult one is a lot see him as a mid/forward when the club could see him as a mid who drifts forward n there's the problem because if they see him as that it's Kennedy, Hannebery, Parker n Heeney in front of him. It's the only explanation I can think of.

BTW also he's already debuted n honestly looked like a dear in the headlights which also could be a reason the club is playing the waiting game.

Bit rough having Nick Smith 'close to retirement' on that list above. He has only just turned 29.

RWOers sack Smithy early in the season every year. He takes a few games to get into stride. In great form at the moment as is all the backline. While that is together we are always a chance. 72 points against, just above our average. We just didn't kick enough goals.

I remember there were pre-season stories on how good Dawson's fitness level was, and it shows in his NEAFL games. He's been getting possessions in the defensive 50, in the centre circle at centre bounces, and pops up in the forward line kicking goals. He's playing a role like a Hanners.

I would suspect that in the seniors he will follow a similar path to Heeney and Hewett, playing mostly as a HF and increasingly moving into the midfield. The future of our midfield looks bright when you've got physical guys like Heeney, Hewett and Dawson who are all good goal kickers.

Yes, I saw that, Smith has barely missed a game for the last seven seasons. Likewise, it might be a early to pull the plug on Laidler.
He turns 28 this week. In his first three full seasons with us (14 to 16), we only lost 15 games (out of 58) when he was in the side.
He is a tough cookie and come finals time, we may need some more man sized bodies out there.
