To be fair on Cornes he was referencing SMS messages that were coming through to SEN from people claiming to have seen Parker having coffee with EFC List Manager. Rumour not his doing, but gave it some air time nevertheless to appeal to the masses.Comment

I hear Buddy's seeking a trade back to HawthornWild speculation, unsubstantiated rumours, silly jokes and opposition delight in another's failures is what makes an internet forum fun.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones who let in the light.Comment

the club sends out the 2019 membership renewals. After 25 years in that one position and with over 200 games, the same number of
pies and more than five hundred beers under my belt, I feel it's important to show some stability at this difficult time.Comment

And yet, in the same breath, some are claiming that Hanners is overpaid at $800k pa, even based on his 2016 and earlier form.
And nor will any believe the "premiership window is closed". Despite a desperately poor performance last weekend, and a failure to ever really get into gear during the season, the club was still less than two goals away from finishing in the top 4 (in a game missing Buddy and Parker), and beat more top 8 sides during the H&A than any other club. It wasn't a great season by any means, but nor was it disastrous. If those results had been achieved with a side mostly filled with mature plodders, maybe things would look different, but it wasn't. The Swans have blooded more new players over the last few seasons than most other clubs (including some languishing near the bottom) and a good handful of those look to have bright futures.
Even if one takes a gloomier view on what was achieved in 2018, you only have to look to the Tigers and Dogs to see how a couple of tweaks can change things around rapidly.

I'm not. I've told my manager that I'll be agreeing to a further one year extension to my position in the top deck of Brewongle when

I'm actually really pleased that both Hanners and Rohan are moving on. It has pained me to watch Hanners this year with terrible disposal, poor awareness of what's around him and such slowness. Much the same for Rohan. Been a great clubman but for both parties a new start is needed. I haven't got strong feelings either way with Newman. He's going to struggle to get into the top22 going forward so better he make way for someone with more potential.
We need new players and with that comes certain risks but have a look at who we've recruited over the years and I trust our recruiting team. We've shown incredible loyalty and always erred on the conservative side in keeping players on the list. Now was the time for change and I applaud it. We desperately need strengthening our mid field and I don't see that coming from existing players within the club. It's exciting to see who we end up with and given what's been moved on you'd have to think there is at least one really significant trade coming.
I'm in a quandary about our forward structure. Is Sam Reid factored into the 2019 plans and how confident are the coaching staff on his availability? If he's 'iffy' still then we need another large target up forward but what if he comes good. Darcy Moore and Sam Reid plus backup from Sinclair, McCartin and possibly Darcy Cameron...seems crowded.
I suspect that the trade for Hanners will be little more than salary cap relief. I can't see St Kilda giving up much for him. Hope I'm wrong but given the pressure that St Kilda are under from the Melbourne press and some of their supporters I can see them playing hard ball.
Exciting weeks ahead. Newish territory for us we're usually fairly quiet during trade period.Comment

Saints have to take action
They have no choice with the scrutiny they are under from the media and of late"be tough, only when it gets tough"

Wow, if it's that easy to start a rumour, then Swans fans should start tweeting utter crap about big name players being seen at Sydney coffee shops talking to men wearing suits with red and white ties.....Last edited by stevoswan; 14 September 2018, 05:37 PM.Comment
