They didn't ask him about Duryea, and Tom didn't offer any unsolicited information.

Even better , if Sheil goes to the Hawks, then StKilda will be desperate to at least land Hannebery. Again this puts the Swans in a strong trading position....

The Swans need to STOP playing the 'nice club' at the trade table. Like we did with Jolly and Mitchell.

I'm thinking if the Swans are making cap space PRIMARILY so they can afford to keep ALL their promising young guns at their next contract renewals. Tippet's contract utlimately cost us retaining Tom Mitchell & club perhaps want to avoid this happening again. Thus they might be shy chasing high profile players who are now demanding big long term contracts $$$$, who risk becoming cap cloggers (like Tippet) if their form dips towards the back end. We could be returning to strategy of targeting players with limited opportunities who we turn into elite, which we were famous for.

It's certainly a risk worth taking because if it pays off we could possibly get one back after losing out big time with the Mitchell deal a few years ago.

"If he can get his body right"......"If it pays off"......"possibly get one back".....too many 'if's' and 'possibles' and therein lies the problem. We need less 'if's' and 'possibles' and more certainty and 'probables'.

Kennedy, Shaw, Mattner, McGlynn, C Bolton, Richards, Mumford, Morton - fair list- have I missed anyone?

So we likely have 7 spots minimum to fill:

Medicals or meetings with the Swans reported for the following so far :

              1. Clarke
              2. Vandenberg
              3. Blakey (certainty)
              4. Duryea
              5. Moore (finally confirmed discussions by Harley today)
              6.
              7.

He played 17 AFL games in 2016 and 21 in 2017 (not sure if he played VFL as well), he's hardly Heath James

Seriously what have we got to lose? Yes Tippett didn't work out in the end but it was the right deal at the time and could have been a masterstroke! This is the same although Moore is much younger so has plenty of football ahead of him.

Trading a first round pick that we wont even get to use anyway as we will get an earlier bid before it comes up on Blakey is worth a punt in my opinion. I just see the huge upside that he has and believe that he would look so much better in Red and White than Black and White!

If you want a probable then here's one. It is probable that he will not just become a very good player but likely be an absolute star of the competition. We can't pass up an opportunity to land a player of that ability, even with the risk involved as the pro's outweigh the cons.

We have mostly been a very conservative club going after the others that have been mentioned earlier like Dureya, Van denberg and Clarke. Most of those clubs supporters couldn't probably give a rats if they moved on and yes they may add some value, probably will, to us. But I can tell you now that if Collingwood lose Darcy Moore and he lines up ready to go in round 1 for us next year, Collingwood supporters will be bleeding that they let a player of his quality move on...

Moore is based on potential rather than actual performance which is why I don't think he warrants a 1st round pick, however troyjones2525 makes good point above our first pick (12) could be figuratively wasted on Blakey if we could still match early bid for him with our 2 x 2nd rounders.

My only problem is that we can play Reid, Moore & Blakey together in the same team?
Altetnatively is there a getable quality midfielder worthy of our pick 12?

And McCartin, if Moore is supposed to be playing forward. And Sinclair if Naismith is rucking. Or if Moore is being developed as a defender; Aliir, Melican, Grundy and Maibaum.

I agree it is based on potential but I watch a lot of football, not just swans games as I'm probably what you would call a footy tragic! Lol. Watching Moore this year, when he wasn't injured obviously, he showed huge improvement since being put down back. He attacks the ball like a forward and takes intercept marks, good enough foot skills, crashes packs, he can really do it all as a defender. Think the best bits about Aliir but then add 7cm in height and a better one on one defender. He will be a steal if we can get him!

Feel free to remind me if we do and it all backfires but I'm really confident with this one and will be shattered if we miss him!
