Shocked about Jordan. Thought he was a very good chance to stay. I hope we manage to extract fair compensation from whichever club it is he goes to. Anything less than the equivalent of a high first rounder and we will have been dudded.

Moving forward though, we have plenty of options to cover his role. Blakey has the height, marking ability and kicking to potentially match what Dawson brings with the added bonus he is faster. Heeney likewise. Then we have a fleet of smaller players who may not match Dawson's marking but certainly match his kicking and again, are all faster (Errol, Campbell, ?Stephens, Jmac).

Big loss, prefer it not to be on the cards, but we have the depth to cover and hopefully can make the best of the situation.

I noted yesterday evening that the abusive comments had started on Dawson’s Instagram account. And today he has turned his account to the private setting.

Sad inevitability in today’s social media world.

Wish we could trade those idiot "fans" to Siberia. Absolutely hate those sad, sad people that resort to that.

Dawson was never best 22 before he actually established himself in the seniors.....so is different to Mitchell. Others who were being picked that weren't best 22 were there because some best 22 players were injured/rehabbing.

What about a 2022 future 1st round pick for Daswson.

Its a close competition and what’s to say Adelaide won’t finish bottom 4 next season.

I’m not sold on Matthew Nicks. Maybe we could turn Dawson into the 2022 pick one. Adelaide would back themselves to finish 12-8 in 2022, but I’m not so sure.

I tend to agree with this....he has shown zero loyalty to our club. He is not a true Blood, he is a mercenary.....so he can **** off.

I'd suggest Ralph is probably closer to the truth with what he said yesterday, but it may well sit somewhere in the middle.

I'd suggest the $ figure we offered was probably reasonable, but the timing of when those $ may flow and the length of contract is more likely to have been the sticking point.
I listened to the whole show. Edmund admitted he doesn't know the various offers and was speculating. Seemed confident he'd go to Port and suggested they'd have to 'part with' 17. Whateley guffawed, suggesting that would be a steal.

Morris is reporting that his preference isn't known.

Article: AFL Finals 2021: Bulldogs disadvantage with quarantine in WA to Melbourne, Grand Final, injury news, Port Adelaide, preliminary final

                  Extract:

"Both SA clubs are in the dark on Dawson’s preference, though it’s understood the Crows would not give up Pick 4 for the 64-gamer.

Dawson supported Adelaide as a kid - his favourite player was Mark Ricciuto - and he and his partner are keen to move home to be closer to family.

If his preference is Port, Sydney would ask for at least Pick 17. Both SA clubs have tabled long-term offers for the 24-year-old."

Seems both Adelaide clubs have given lines to the media (with their low-ball pick offers), but we haven't yet.

Pretty embarrassing reading this comment actually. Players enter the draft knowing they could end up anywhere....they just want to be on a list so they can play AFL footy. He got that and now that he has some worth, he decides he has the leverage to 'go home' on big coin. It's extremely disappointing and disloyal. He's a man FFS, he should start acting like one. If it's highlighted anything, it's that he isn't worthy of being a Blood. As I said earlier....he can **** off.

Without having a clue myself, about what has been going on behind the scenes, I doubt if, "both SA clubs are in the dark". Surely a player who wanted to move to a two team town (or their agent), would get in touch with those teams, just to find out how much they wanted him, before he started the process of walking out on his current club.

I wouldn't resort to that (despite saying on here that he can **** off) but I can understand that he is getting negativity and I repeat, he should expect it. He has shafted our club....should we be actually happy and wish him 'all the best'?

Whilst l agree with your sentiments, I think it was more of a tongue-in-cheek comment fed by a bit of disappointment. No harm done.

Comments that do get to me are the ones that question,
‘loyalty’ - maybe going home is a sign of loyalty to your family? I mean, apart from real estate being 1/4 of the price vs Sydney, why else would you wanna go back to SA?

The club should make a stand and say to port or Adelaide the best offer wins . He at least should do the right thing and make sure we are compensated accordingly.
Club should make a stand like we did with O’keefe if we don’t get a realistic deal in return . If not march him to the pre season draft , I’m sure North will welcome him with open arms

No Stevo. There is no excuse for people to personally attack others on social media.

MCS has articulated this perfectly. I suggest you get behind MCS in calling out people who personally attack people on social media.
