Fox reporting we made a play for pre-agent Tom Barrass at WCE, but were rebuffed. It is reassuring to know we are looking to improve our KPD stocks!

On Trade Radio, they just said Adelaide are negotiating with other clubs for a deal which nets them Melbourne's first round pick in next season's draft. They are speculating whether that pick could then go to the Swans. The plot thickens!Comment

Maybe we don't rate this draft and want more 2022 picks?Comment

As an update to my recent post, a Mitch Cleary tweet suggests that this latest potential transaction means the No. 17 offered to us now goes elsewhere and Adelaide will use the Melb pick for next year as a bargaining chip to try to get the GC young guns from South Australia then. So maybe nothing to do with a Judas Dawson trade?Comment

Tommmmm Mmmmmmorris says
Four-way trade in the works involving Adel, Melb, STK, WB.
Will see Melb end up with the Dogs' pick 17. Dogs get more points to help match Sam Darcy. Adel get Melb's future 1st rounder. STK a stronger draft hand

That could be pick 18 but pushed out further due to next years F/S, Academy and FA compo. It must be what WE are asking for otherwise Cows wouldn't be chasing it? Melbourne have a weak draft hand this year, from memory first pick is 33'ish
Maybe we don't rate this draft and want more 2022 picks?
Maybe, but I can't really see us taking pick 17/18 next year if we turned down pick 17 this? They'd have to chuck something else in to sweeten the deal. Maybe Melbourne will let them swap 23 for next years first and we'll get the Crows to give us a bunch of lower picks this year or next? Or we've got a way to use the Crows picks plus 31 to get our hands on 17 or something?
If Crows get next years first for 23 and give us that plus 37 and 44 then maybe we can swap 37, 44 and 31 for 17, so we'd have in effect two lower first rounders for JD and 31?Comment

Or the Cows are not now trying to trade for Dawson and are going about their business pumping up their 2022 draft hand in anticipation of Lukocious and/or Rankine getting homesick once they're OOC next year?
We can posture all we like but the PSD looms over usComment

Looks like the Crows are sticking their middle finger up at us. The deal looks like they use up all their 2021 picks and get a future first 33 and 75. @@@@ is about to get real.Comment

I really like Amiss, but can't see him getting past WCE; he may even land earlier at Freo, so have dropped him from my calculations. I'm less keen on Williams because he's more of a pure forward and think we should focus more on building our key defence stocks this year. We have a bit more time to see how things develop with our forward line. It could be just fine with what we've got on board now.
van Rooyen was ranked 21 by Cal Twomey last month, but I think there's a good chance he won't make it to our pick at 14, especially if Freo take Amiss. WCE have to rebuild across the board, so it's hard to say if they will take the next best available or the next best WA KPP.Comment

It could also mean that the Swans told them that they did not want this year's number 17 but were interested in a similar pick next year as they preferred to use the draft pick then due to more certainty around the potential of draft picks. This year's draft is a crap shoot due to COVID.Comment

In vaguely good news, Gold Coast have cleared some cap space by shipping off Brodie. I still think that they are our best mates in terms of the PSD. Adelaide will want Lukosius & Rankine next year and so GC need to show them that they can't keep waltzing players to the PSD.Comment

Interesting feedback from Sam Gray I know he didn’t exactly set the world on fire but surprising to hear nonetheless
Gray was asked whether he received much feedback from John Longmire and Sydney’s coaching staff throughout the year.
“Probably not as much as I would’ve liked at times,” he replied.Comment
