The eternal connundrum "what happens when an unstoppable force meets an immovable object" was finally solved when David Hasselhoff punched himself in the face. -
Agreed. I actually really rate Cal Twomey. I think he does his homework as best as he can and avoids sensationalism. There's probably no doubt that we've met with Tom Brown and his manager (Liam Pickering) a few times but it is impossible to tell whether this is all genuine or a part of a greater plan. We give absolutely nothing away unless it is in our best interest. I love it too.Comment

BTW Kinnear B has confirmed the Swans would likely take former No.1 pick Paddy McCartin in the supplemental selection period...
"All I can say is we're waiting on some information back from the AFL, if that's all positive there's every likelihood Paddy will be with us. Last year we were looking at him at both ends of the ground. He's got the flexibility to play both ends and it's good for your list profile if you've got players that have got the capacity to do that."

Although, I do wonder what the AFL needs to process? Some sort of indemnity if there's further concussions?Comment

No need for misdirection with Paddy. Think the AFL need to clear Paddy to play, I presume from a health POVComment

This looks to be the most volatile draft of all time, never seen so much doubt about who goes where and so many players with such wide windows where they may be drafted. Pick swaps look to be out of control!
Think we'll look back on this draft as having thrown up a heap of bargain picks.
Get the drinks and nibbles and settle in for a couple of hours of excitement, woohoo!Comment

Looking forward to the draft now that it's getting close. Provided they don't drag it out on the night, I can live with it being split over two nights.
I'm enjoying musing about the players we might get with our picks. I'll most likely be enthused about whoever we draft. Who isn't? Drafts are always all about upside and blue sky. Generally 18 clubs walk away happy (although of course you never get to hear the stories about "dang! we just missed X by a whisker!").
There'll be players who seem appealing at each of our picks but I suspect it's quite likely that we might go past some of the ones I am imagining to pick the ones that the recruiters see as most promising - like when we selected Warner ahead of various other players who were more hyped. Turned out the recruiters got it right in that case - not the meeja.
Now that we are committed to Paddy McCartin and have retained Reid and Gould and O'Connor, I'm no longer thinking it's essential that we draft a KPD. Conceivably we could not pick one at all, or wait until the rookie draft. Still I think it's better if we do get one.
Optimistic selections I like at our picks:
* at first pick: Sinn, Wilmot (if they're gone, Goater? Sonsie?)
* at second pick: Alleer, Draper (looks a chance that he could slide that far), Taylor (ditto), Brown, Roberts, Chesser (these are mostly players who are rated higher by many pundits but who seem to be a chance of sliding)
* at third pick: Motlop could potentially claim him just before pick 40 - our pick 39 is going to go out and then come back in with the matched bids), Bazzo, Dean, Molan (? I like the write up about him)
Later/rookie: Voss, Anderson
I won't be surprised or necessarily even disappointed if we don't get any of these players. I hope I'll be excited to welcome whichever new faces to the club and that we smash the draft out of the park! All opinions are not equal. I just tried and it gave me Matthew Johnson! Lock it in, baby! I'm down for that.Unfortunately can't see him still being available from what I've read.

I agree. I would be surprised if Johnson is still available after West Coast's first pick (roughly pick 12 after bid matching)."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Hawthorn have said they are open to trading picks 21 & 24 to get into the first round: 'We'll always ask the question': Hawks ponder live trade to move up (afl.com.au). Would you take picks 21 & 24 for picks 16 & 39, if offered? My feeling is if we had that offer, we should wait and see who is on the board when it gets to our pick and then be ready to make a deal if there's not a player we really want there. Overall I lean towards making the deal - but our recruiters would need to make the deal when they know the specific player they are choosing to trade away from. Likewise, it's better for Hawthorn to wait until then to see if they still want to do that deal too.All opinions are not equal.
