Agree with you on Ratagalea. Not sure what position he is suited to, but it certainly isn’t as a defender. One of those players who has great potential but rarely delivers.

Agree on Francis. Lacks composure in traffic. I would like him to stay on the list because he is good for depth and can play pretty well when he comes in. Not in our best 22.

I terms of our trade activity Sweet from the doggies and Tomlinson from the Dees would be gettable at a fair price and fill a gap. Would prefer us to try and concentrate on KPPs at the draft plus the three academy kids

Besides all the KPP names mentioned, most of whom have resigned with their existing clubs, I would like to look at some of the players in teams like Brisbane and Gold Coast, to mention a couple, who are playing in the VFL and on the edge of the seniors. Tomlinson is not the answer. Ludwig mentioned a player from the Lions who can't crack the seniors (but I can't find the message he sent). There are good KPP candidates who are young, have real potential and are off contract at the end of season. Brisbane VFL side has several good candidates in their side which is on top of VFL ladder and even the senior coach said that there are great players in that side that just can't crack seniors. Let's look at potential rather than recycled players to recruit for our needs.

Just another thought out of the Carlton mailing of Melbourne. Couple of players we should look at 1) Inside midfielder, 8 clearances, 23 contested possessions (from 33) 111 fantasy points…number 29 G. Hewett and 2) Flanker 33 disposals, 3 clearances, 521 meters gained (#1 for game) and 138 fantasy points (#1 for the game)…be an upgrade on Stephen’s… number 24 N. Newman.

I we tend to have short memories regarding some our talented players and their early years transitioning into a squad AFL games.

Florent was a bit on the nose of a fair few supporters at one stage who felt he should have advanced faster.

Look at him now in the backline vs wing

                Loves it !!!!
Very true, but you could see with Ollie he had it just needed to find where he fitted in the team, Stephens just doesn’t show that he has the level in him - I probably sound like a hater and I am not I just feel we others we should be prioritising ahead of him in the coming seasons

Cunningham played wing his whole life prior to the Swans, even when dropped by GWS before joining us

ended up an elite shut down defender with rebound.

                  Ollie an inside outside mid.

                  Warner a tagging mid.

Will be fascinating whatever we decide re Stephens at the end of this season.

He is out of contract and if he decides to go elsewhere, especially North we have no clout.

He goes for free or next to nothing

If he decides to go elsewhere, we wont play hard ball, we never do, he will go for next to nothing

Another player that took a little while to get established was Blakey.

He was so inconsistent and just awful his first couple of years and dropped a few times. Then he has been a star when played in defence.

one of our supporters recently suggested where is our next Kennedy type of player that we maybe able to attract? ie inside hard body to help our clearances.

I think that same supporter suggested that James Worpel is out of contract and only 24yrs of age but has now tallied up 100 games.

I dont think he is high on our radar, yet i think he would be a handy trade, not super expensive and would help our list exeperience.

BUT..........if you get a chance to click on this link below, you are in for a treat from one of the best mids I have ever watched play the game. Sam Mitchell goes into very micro detail in this post player feedback session (after playing us last season).

Inconsistent yes but calling him awful is harsh and not accurate. Was nominated for a rising star if I recall.

His inconsistency came from the fact they kept playing him all over the shop. Wing one day, future key forward the next.

Agree. He wasn't that bad and you could always see the potential. Found his spot now. Has become a gun despite his unique build and lack of weight.

Someone I’m surprised we haven’t been linked with is Darcy Parish , still hasn’t signed with the Bombers . Would be a perfect fit for us but has a bit of injury history
