(A possible trade: Suns get two second-round picks, North gets the Suns' first-round pick, we get McKay, plus a swap of later picks to balance out the trade. Picks 2 and 5 would be almost as good as picks 2 and 3, even if North gave up a later pick (eg: 39 or 53) as part of that trade.)

As for Stephens going to North via the PSD, that is not guaranteed either. As it stands North Melbourne would not have the first pick in the PSD. All that has to happen to scuttle that plan is for West Coast to make noises about picking up Stephens, and that plan sinks fast. I also doubt Stephens would risk the lottery of the PSD. Relationships would have to be seriously bad for that to be a live option, and I don't see any indication of that happening.
Sorry I wasn't clear. The PSD threat is a negotiating tactic from North. Am not saying Stephens would go to the PSD, but North can play with that idea and we would be forced to accept a lowly pick for him, like we got unders for Dawson. We would do a deal to avoid the PSD threat, but end up with a third or fourth round pick for Stephens on his own.

Doesn't bother me if Stephens goes. He is a soft, bruise free footballer who regularly gets found out at the top level.

Missed FC on Wednesday night due to the Matildas game, but apparently Eddie revealed via his sources, that Adam Simpson will be forced to resign at season's end and West Coast will be targeting either Don Pyke or Dean Cox as their senior coach.

If this does eventuate, I'm not against Stuart Dew returning.

I reckon Cox will be the target, done his time at Swans.

Be lying if i said I wouldnt be happy to roll the dice for another midfield coach

That episode of FC is available online https://www.9now.com.au/footy-classi...023/episode-42 and although I wantched it, I must have missed the mention of Pyke and Cox.

I did spot one remarkable moment, when Eddie was talking about the Eagles, and had a slip of the tongue and commented that the knife or axe would fall on Adam Goodes.
Presumably he meant Adam Simpson, or maybe it was a freudian slip.

That means Adam Goodes is still messing with his mind all this time.

The trouble with Stephens is we used a high pick on him (5?), Which was unexpected at the time, and in hindsight wrong. Bad blue by our recruiters.
If he was a pick 20, which is what most suspected, we wouldn't be worried about his form, and be happy to keep him.

Early picks are a curse for a player.
Norf are probably thinking he's a top 10. He never was.

If Cox or Pyke do end up at WC, hope they don't influence any of our WA contingent (particularly after our Barrass push).

That is simply not true. While all of these have Sydney taking Flanders (some after bidding on Green), he is mentioned by the most credible of these (as Twomey has contacts within the industry) as being under consideration, not just by the Swans at five but by other clubs with picks shortly after.

Others thought Adelaide would be after Stephens with Pick 6. Bet Adelaide wish they had got Stephens at 6 rather than MacAsey. Sydney should have taken Serong who was a Sydney fan and we did show interest in him. Dockers nailed the draft with their triple pick of Serong, Young and Henry. Hope we keep Stephens and that he develops into a good player. I hate it when we prematurely release players that I have supported. Dempster, Stevens, Nankervis, Cameron, Aliir, Newman, Hewett, Membrey and then go chasing the likes of Ladhams and Francis as replacements.

If Stephens can sort his suspect disposal out he will be more than a handy player . He has no issues finding the ball and his endurance is elite . Some of his finals last year were brilliant . No wonder the club want to keep him because if it clicks he could be anything. That’s why a few clubs are interested.

As he has had a contract this year and has not re-signed, I think that he will be going just as Jordan Dawson did.

Hard to live with screwing up a pick 5 but it does happen.... What I find so hard about it is that Serong, a sydney fan and had involvement with the club was as safe a pick you can have and we didnt take it.

If we picked a tall i stead if a mid again i get the way of thinking but we picked a mid over a mid and we are an interstate club where rentention is huge

                            Its a blemish alright

I'd have John Blakey back before Dew.

My thoughts exactly. If a contract is in front of a player the whole year and his management don't to bite then he's gone. McLean's management is doing the same thing but with him it's a matter of getting a little more not moving on
