Take it from me,.Grundy will be a swam next year.
Why?. Two critical pieces of evidence:
    1) Demons are openly talking about him leaving and are aware of meetings with clubs (ie, he's out).
    2) our rival, port, sent coach and two players, during a finals campaign, to visit him. That reeks of desperation and knowing they are running 2nd. Geelong failed doing the same thing with boak a few years ago.

    Welcome heath.

I like your reasoning Barry, most plausible.

Swans’ supporter on Facebook was told by a ‘North Insider’ that the swans deal with McKay is done. Roos gutted apparently. (Grain of salt of course, but poster seemed emphatic.)

You mean Brodie? (Our Heath is not making a come back!).

I do question Brodie's go home factor, as he had an opportunity to do so this year. Which is why I think we have a real chance. Brodie does enjoy the big city life, which Adelaide pales in comparison.

A.. Heath is my new nickname for him
              Or
              B. Momentarily forgot his name.
              Or
              C. A bit of A and a bit of B.

I can't see how port can get a deal done, unless they trade out a player. And with radegalea coming in, that makes it even harder. It's a port dream.

Now, Melbourne may want something in return. They desperately need a tall forward. Would we give up Amartey?

Reid? Too do a one year cameo.

It might be looking more likely we will persist with Reid and Melican on base contracts for 2024?

It’s just really hard to get excited by that strategy due to how injury prone they both are.

But if they can play at least half the season it provides cover in the backline with Francis, Melican and or Reid when required to assist our best backline.

And or Reid can assist when required our young forward line.

Maybe Arnold and Buller are not too far off the pace after another pre season and learning our structure and their areas of improvement to meet our needs?

For me it makes sense at one level to use our depth but on the other hand if Reid and Melican will be on $300k each in 2024 then I would rather use that $600k towards a player that really makes a difference to our attack and or defence. Of course we will need to add at least another $150k pa ie $750k pa in total to make it happen with a serious trade in.

Suggestion Reid would play on has come from his manager not the club

Got to wonder if we are doing what Brisbane did with its Daniher free agent signing. A high amount per year contract offer so that Essendon couldn’t match / happy with the compo pick, then smooth it out in a contract renegotiation later on

If we're not successful in securing McKay we're then running out of options in recuiting a KPD interceptor. Is Reid a possible stop gap measure in that regard? He is due for a non injury year with his injury cycle.

Probably, though I imagine if the club was "no way" to Reid playing on, the manager wouldn't have made the suggestion.

This is the normal process. There are some who appear not to realise that there is no draft pick required. The Swans can still do this and retain their current draft picks

It’s more that people were finding meaning in the decision to extend Reid when that’s not the case.

I think it’s still up in the air

The club would be mad to tule him out without resolving their KPP conundrums
