We are short one or two KPD’s - check - Hamling is probably the best available and will be good for us depending on injury.
Definitely need a ruckman as Ladhams is not the smartest bloke going around and the other bloke (sorry can’t remember his name) needs more development - check - Grundy will be awesome.
Our midfield is quick, but no good at clearances - check - Taylor and Jordan will make a big difference. They are strong types who will compliment players like Warner and Rowbottom.
        I’m excited.

So, Adams has now officially requested a trade to us, with a three year deal on offer.

Taylor Adams wants out: Collingwood Magpies veteran requests a trade to Sydney Swans

As much as I am a bit ambivalent on a couple of our pursuits, I do give the club credit for recognising where the deficiencies are on our list and seeking to fill them with solid players. I don’t mean in a “we won trade week coz we did something, anything” way; but we have been systematic in our approach. I’d obviously prefer a far better KPD option than Hamling and ultimately wish we’d simply passed, but lord knows we tried elsewhere first.

I do agree with Auntie G that it’ll add substantially to our depth in critical components of the ground, and we have now a more robust and deeper first 28, which is what you need.

It also suggests we have a far better salary cap position than expected, and by offering Jordon and Adams years rather than big dollars and getting Grundy at a discount, we’ve kept some in reserve for our elite young talent and another lash at free agency next year.

I support recruiting Adams, and think it's a smart pick-up. He'll help address our centre clearance issue. The reliance on Papley there late the season demonstrates how thin we are there and this better allows to use Papley forward, as well as give us flexibility in our midfield rotation.

Grundy, Jordan, Adams and Hamling. We weren't kidding when we said we'd be active in the trade space this year. Hats off to those who got these players across the line. Back as a destination club.

Great effort by the club to get all these players across the line. Clearly we were light on for depth this season. Takes a bit of pressure off Parker too. Having him able to rotate through the forward line gives him a chop out from the constant crash and bash of the midfield.

I would suggest more opportunistic trading then destination club.

We trumped their current club for length of deal with Hamling and Adams, usually works for 30+ players

Grundy we beat a team in a 2 horse race after seemingly not being in the conversation last year

Jordan we could have an argument as a destination club.

I look at the last 22 we played and Grundy replaces Hickey.

Wicks, Harry and Fox as a sub the weakest links.
                    Sheldrick is best 22 imo

Adams plays which probably means Parker goes HFF and Paps replaces Wicks as Permanent FP.

Hamling Fox or Melican Play with Tom Mc

Good to add depth, Grundy and Adams will be best 22 the others will be depth for the time being.

Corey Warner, Roberts, Konstanty still not getting games.

Assuming you're including Hamling; who else?

Having said that, whenever I saw the VFL Swans highlights, I liked the look of him.

I can't see where else you'd play Roberts if not on ball.

One as supporters we see a trajectory of possibility.
Two coaches see a trajectory of reality.
Ie the tiny little areas that show up on repeat video playback and GPS monitoring that shows the tiny gaps we can’t see on a first blush look.

                              Exhibit A above

A 100 game player senior AFL being pulled apart positive and negative

Could you imagine a 5 game player in two years like Dawso and his feedback session

It would have been many areas to improve compared to a 100 game player

I suspect we as supporters tragically underestimate the gaps and areas of improvement that make or break selection and or contribution to opposition dominance when things go wrong.
