Maybe neither has the raw talent of Stringer, but they both work much harder, which is part of what a team needs from a medium forward. They also have a fleet of small forwards that they can’t fit all into their team. Including the yet-to-debut (I think) Gothard who they expended a high draft pick on in last year’s draft.

They seem to me to have shifted from a club with far too many mids to one with not enough. Ward is on his last legs, Coniglio can’t stay on the park, they’ve lost Peatling, they’ve lost Perryman (who wasn’t playing midfield but could have been moved there. Callaghan is a huge talent but they seem pretty thin in that department beyond him.

Their forward line seems the last area that needs padding.
    Bingo.

They looked a mid 'light' to me in the two home and away games we played.

Interestingly, they had us covered for much of the final against us when that evened out because we went with one less mid after dropping Adams and anchoring Parker in the forward line. A lot went wrong on GF day, but I still think we were one shy in the midfield.

More Parker speculation as the deadline nears.

From Twitter (AFL trade radio): Parker and Konstanty both going to North Melbourne?

Seems this is the deal if I heard it correctly: Parker and Konstanty to North Melbourne for pick 44.

I hate trade week. Seems to drag on forever and the coverage is exasperating.

Apparently that’s exactly what’s just happened. Really sad to see Parker leave like this.

The good news with Bolton coming in, Freo’s cap will be cooked. So it’s down to the Weagles in chasing Chad.

I’ll back us to keep him given the alternative.

Me too. No way is pick 44 going to make up for losing a good player with 50 to 100 games left. Konstanty is the steak knives in that deal.

The Swans ended up with picks 19, 22, 44 and 59, and six list vacancies. What now?

Keep an eye on West Coast. The speculation is they would be after Chad Warner and may be stocking up picks for that.

Consensus among alot of the media pundits.is that he'll ask to be traded bsck home next year. But what would they know? They were also sure Haywood would go to Carlton before he re-signed.

IF Chad does want to go home next year, it'd better if both Freo & WC fight for him.

Also keep in mind there are some big fish coming into FA next year which includes the Bont. I also heard Petracca will be on the move next year as he has lingering issues with Melbourne.

So we have now bailed out of our poorly constructed 2022 draft with the dumping of Vickery and Konstanty. We really need to do better with our selections.

Without any pick trades we will have a couple of picks in the 20s plus pick 44, which we meed to match a bid on Cochran, given he aced the time trial.

We have 5 open spots as of now, including class B rookies. We could be in the market for a DFA to fill out the numbers.

I would like to see us delist McAndrew, as we can't give Will Green proper ruck time with he and Ladhams playing in the VFL.

We really don't need to delist anyone else, biven we don't fave draft pikcs or other target to fill the vacancies. Now it's just up to our recruiters to do good player evaluations and get few solid players with our draft picks.

Happy that a champion Swan like Parker got a 3 year contract to continue his career with a new role and opportunities.

We've got a good list in a good demographic. We just need to perform up to our capabilities next year and sign Chad Warder. We don't need another 2 draft picks from 2025. We need Chad. Let's see how it plays out

I think that we got a little unders for Luke.. but given his exemplary service we had to do the deal. I think we as a club will miss Luke a lot more than people realise

It was a present to Luke to get him a 3 year deal where he can play senior footy, while we nee to create space for players like Sheldrick and Cleary at AFL level, else we could see them depart for better opportunities. I think it all worked out all around.

This deal is miles away from making an impact of 2025 and beyond, so it's fine to just let it go.

Port haven't ruled out trading down their pick 13 (from GC) for our picks 19 & 22, but seem more likely to hang onto it as this is their earliest draft pick in a while.

I shake my head that North were willing to give pick 25 for Caleb Daniel who struggled to get games, most as a Sub. Then play so hardball with Parker, a champion & GF goal kicker.
