Irrespective of those poor stats, he’s a class act. However, I’d have two provisos if we would be in for him:

    1. He would really want to come here, and for a reasonable package, not over the top.
    2. We wouldn’t have to give up ridiculous picks- in other words heaven and earth.

He has a physical presence which we really need and could light up the SCG. I’d be happy if we could get him.

I have a hunch that Curnow is carrying an injury. He was subbed out at half time with a calf niggle during the West Coast game and hasn't played at his best since.

          must be close ?

If Heeney played for a Victorian team he would be in the media every week last two seasons.

great to have this just turned 29yr old with us to end of 2028 !

Three of his last four seasons have been elite. (Also think 21 and 23 were pretty damn good). He’s a little down from last year, but hey, who wouldn’t be.

I think this season has been underrated. He was one of the few consistent players at the start of the year, albeit without the goal kicking impact of last year. He’s top five and often number one or two for goals, clearances, contested possessions, tackles, goal assists, and on and on. And that’s before you measure his ability to simply do stuff other players can’t. I know there’s an argument for Grundy being the clubhouse leader in the B&F but I reckon it’s a closer call than that.

The one great unknown on Isaac’s career is if he’d been able to train as a midfielder (his ankle stuffed him) for the first five or so years, what his career could have been. There were long stretches where he barely trained during the week at all and had extremely limited pre-seasons. I know there’s a view that Horse kept him forward too often, but he simply hadn’t been able to get in the work to play midfield.

But he’s a joy to watch and one of the cleanest players I’ve seen.

Agreed with everything you said buddy- he is simply an amazing player. We are truly blessed to have him, such a pleasure to watch. I can’t think of a player who can take consistent high marks, kick incredible bananas wity either foot, has heaps of pace, and is rarely tackled. A true generational talent!

Heeney us a superstar and it proves the point, put your best players in the middle, he has always been a great fwd, turned into a top 5 player went he went into the middle

Wish he had a twin- one could play mid and the other fwd. We’d be champions for sure!

Carlton is going to cut but unlikely to be Curnow given the love affair of their supporters with him. They will get rid of TDK, maybe harry mckay, and lots of the midfield group. Start from bottom again. Wonder if Cripps is available as a trade target? He is 30 and wouldn’t want to stick around for another build up. Not fast but could do what we expected Taylor Adams to do and better

The Scott brothers weren’t too shabby!
But what I really meant by “twin” is just someone with his ability- my favourite player since Bobby the “Chimp” Skilton!

Ok- maybe after Warwick Capper then……….but then he left us so that leaves me with Buddy!
Looking back, we’ve been blessed with some great players but to me Isaac Heeney is among the most naturally gifted and consistently elite players I’ve ever seen. He should have won the Brownlow last year.

These are the latest ESPN draft rankings.

AFL Draft Power Rankings: Depth emerging? The top 30 prospects for July - ESPN https://www.espn.com.au/afl/story/_/...-depth-quality

They have King slipping a couple of places to 14 and Carmichael rising to 22. Which I guess means that there's a couple of main options. Firstly, trade out our first round pick, to get some more points and hopefully ensure that we get both King and Carmichael. Or keep that pick and take a currently higher ranked player. For instance, Aidan Schubert is rated around about our first pick at 11. From what I've seen of him, he's an impressive, strong marking, straight kicking KPF. So, if we decide that we need one of those, then we might just take one of King or Carmichael with our second round pick, and with the changes to the points system, probably going into a bit of deficit, as well. Of course, there's always the possibility, of trading a player for points prior to the draft

Thanks for the link, Deja. I think our list will have a major shake up after Cox's first year at the helm. I'd be surprised if Ollie is traded out, but anything is possible.

I think securing both King and Carmichael will be our key objective. Where is Chamberlain now ranked?

Tom Morris is still hot on us having big interest in JUH. With Buller now showing some promising signs, where does that leave our current KPF crop of Logan, Armatey, McLean & Buller when all fit?

Does Logan gets tried down back as KPD or is that now clearly our number one need over KPF? Particularly being mindful of McCartin's concussion vulnerability, but hopeful he'll still have a long career in the game.

Fingers crossed Sheldrick re-signs, as been hearing he has a 2 year contract on the table with both WC and Richmond showing interest.

My guess is that Chamberlain will be late in the draft or rookie list. While he's tall, athletic and useful when he gets the ball, I just don't think that he's done enough this season to ensure that he's picked up. When he played in the forward line, he didn't get many goals. When he played on the wing, he didn't have any damaging, high possession games. Last season, I was more impressed by Cochran, but we didn't match a late bid for him.

Genuine questions do we need another key fwd or is a combination of Buller, Macdonald, Amartey and Mclean (not playing all four, just 2/3 each week) good enough ?

Which would allow us to target a key defender or use our first-round pick on the best talent available.
