I think we should trade him if we can get what we need in return- I think Wood would be a good pickup from Brisbane or there was also talk today of Adelaide being interested and willing to give up their young ruckman cant remember his name? I think what we desperately have to find though is a fullback, we simply dont have one and we are going to drop off, but if we look to build up a solid defence which we have the foundations for then we can build back up from there. In that sense Id be happy enough if we took a punt on either Donk or one of the young blokes with Everitt if we could get a good trade.

It's funny, I was just going through my old Swans stats, and noticed in 1990 we went through Tunbridge, Barling, John, Parsons, Willis and Henwood in the ruck. Even more recently we have the likes of Feast, Sangster, Brockman, Doyle, Meiklejohn, Chambers, Mott...
It is by no means easy getting a long-term ruckman. We may get decent compensation for Jolly, but going for a second-stringer from another club has major risks.Comment

I would love to see Jolly stay on our list but if his heart is not in it then he is useless to us (see GF 2006, obviously committed to the Swans, but mind elsewhere). If he truly wants to go, then lets use the value he has built up over the past 3 seasons and trade well for him.Comment

keeping a quality player is my goalHe reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Gotta admire Spidas skill at making the informant (himself) the story. The article starts with Spidas opinion re. Jolly (topical) and then proceeds to recycle the Spida redemption story (about the twentieth time the Spida conversion on the road to Sydney miracle has been written up.) Time to deliver SpidaBevo bandwagon driverComment

"Great job" is a gross exaggeration. He has been serviceable at best. I suppose it's a bit hard to have a major impact when you only play 50% of game time, but he has been quite unremarkable IMHO.
As for his comments on Jolly, I would take them with a pinch of salt. There is no indication he has any inside knowledge of Jolly's wishes and motivations - simply that he sees him as a key player to Sydney.Comment

Agree. I think he has done really well for us. But tonight is really it for Spida. He's playing with us to win a flag and hopefully he can take the maggots apart tionight with their weak ruckmen. Tonight Spidas drinking in the Last Chance Saloon.Bevo bandwagon driverComment

However, there's still work to do especially if we get a chance vs WC next week - Cox was brilliant for them again last night & you get the feeling he steps up to #1 for WC in the absence of Kerr, Cousins & (effectively) Judd.Comment
