On top of everything he is 23, which is the perfect age to fit in with our young core.
Agreed. Would Sherman make our best 22, which is generally our criteria for trading? I would say so.

He might not be in the best 22, but he would be played in the best 22 as offers the team something that not many others on our list do, that is pace and very good foot skills.

We could have 22 Chris Judd's in the side and still not be a very good team, it's all about what each individual player brings to the set-up and how we play our best football.

This. Those in charge of our list have been proven right much often than not in the past. And if it's true that they've offered him such a big contract than I'm willing to bet he's going to be an asset to our team (if he joins us).

I think you saw today where football is now headed.

We have gone back to a kicking game and with the full press zones in place, if you can't hit a target consistently then you won't play senior football.

Sherman would add considerably to our side at present.

sherman has said he has no intention of playing in sydney? isn't this true..
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

with Kirky leaving there will be a fair bit of cash ready for another midfielder..........if Craig Bolton retires also there will be approx $1mill from their two salaries............. and I think given we got great value from Mummy at $250k pa vs Jollies old salary....... and the average salary for Jetta, Kennedy, McGlynn, Hannes in the midfield HFF rotation is great value me thinks........

Sherman is not ideal or first choice for me............ but he could fit into our style of play very well and we need more experience in the midfield HFF rotation given Goodes is primarily in the forwards last two yrs, Kirk is gone and ROK and Jude are now 30 yrs of age and ROK will no doubt be in the middle of the field alot more then 2010.......so $400k pa for Sherman is ok given the average price of our midfield rotation of players

PS Lions maybe happy to take Vespa given their similar positions around HFF and they may need a cheap emerging small forward.........

PSS - If Lions need to offload Sherman my guess is that if true he is on a back loaded $800k for 2011 then they will need to contribute to the 2011 salary ?? Therefore we may be not paying the full $1.6 over 4 years

                  Don't really want Sherman.

I think we should probably look at adding another KPP in trade week. Depth in this area is probably our biggest weakness.

Another KPP should be a priority. I agree totally. Sherman wouldn't add anything that we don't have already except a really stupid nickname .....the shermanator.pfffff

Spot on. Sherman is not what the team is crying out for. KPP is a priority come trade week and theres one bloke who would be perfect.....John Anthony. We should be throwing a decent contract at his feet to reel him in.

If we have targets that present consistantly.

Need to clarify the type of key forward - Anthony seems more like the stay-at-home marking full forward type and would get in Bradshaw's way. I think we need a leading CHF type.

Maybe we should be going for Cloke then....he's out of contract.

And seriously consider Sam Reid! He has expressed a preference for playing forward. I know, too young and no experience as yet, I hear you saying. But give him 12 months and by 2012 we will see he has the potential to be as good as John Anthony and into the future be better. Look at Hanners and say Steele Sidebottom (some commentators are saying across the 8 quarters he would have been close to the Norm Smith medal - the youngest player or one of the youngest on the field). I say let's develop our forward line from what we have.
