Why is it nasty? It's a fact. I'll repeat; I worked with David Noble in the 90's when he was playing footy and he is a genuinely nice bloke.

I am still holding out hope that GWS will sweep in and take him.

Nice bloke aside, he will look back on this in a while and regret some of the comments/behaviour. There has been an enormous dummy spit about the rejection of a lucrative contract. It is out of keeping with the realities of modern football.

The comment is petulant at best.

Why is he nasty? If it is a win, why is the fool taking so long to do a trade when he has NOTHING to negotiate with? Every other player in the Club would be watching and taking note.

Obviously since playing footy, Noble has acquired some issues. List management and people skills dont seem to be one of them.

Is he the List Manager or Lisp Manager?.

To say the things this goose has said about KT is unbelievable. Now they are trying to blame KT for delisting a player. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsartic...1/default.aspx .

They can't even manage the list. To quote: "But Noble said the Graham deal "possibly" impacted on the Tippett trade, declining to elaborate". Derrr...................

For this goose to say: "We are going to get the best goddamn deal for our club" . Is he on the same reality spectrum as everyone else in the football world?.

We all hated Pelchen for years but he drove a very hard if unrealistic negotiation. Noble just doesn't seem to have any concept that even the average supporter knows - that KT will walk straight to the Swans and they get nothing.

I hope the Swans don't do anything silly to save face for this fool. To quote Barrassi in that famous television footage: serves him bloody right!

The quotes from the AFC are not really that bad, most of the hyperbole in that article comes from the journalist Michelangelo Rucci (hardly known for his subtle and unbiased opinion when it comes to reporting on football in Adelaide). I doubt that you would hear any such comments from Brenton Sanderson.

The issue about having to cut someone from their list (a problem that all clubs face at this time of year) as an outcome of Tippett leaving is rubbish. All that article really says is that the standard of journalism in this country is very low.

Damy is correct, childish and petulant is a nice way to describe the comments.

Maybe this thread has been going for too long - is anyone else getting a sense of deja vu?

This whole drama has got a lot of heat in it from the Adelaide side. They've tried to make Tippett the fall guy for their own list management errors, their own inability to be an attractive workplace where people want to stay, their own lack of bargaining power in this trade.

You want a nice first round draft pick Noble? Maybe you should have traded him to GC ages ago instead of grovelling at his feet and shoving more money at him. Maybe you should have traded him to Brisbane last year for their pick 8 which they offered.

I'm over feeling sorry for them now, becasue now they're just delaying the move to be dicks. I really doubt our offer will move and I really doubt either Brisbane or GC will come crawling back after Tippett rejected them.

He's going one way or another. Either you take him for something or he walks for nothing.

I have to agree that I don't think that line is really all that nasty. It's nowhere near what Malthouse said about Davo, for example- from memory it was along the lines of "we only want quality human beings here" or some such?
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I'm quite glad I've been far too busy to pay too much attention to all of this, the AFL's certainly getting their media bang for buck by dragging trade week out to 3 weeks! I wouldn't be shocked if they made it a month next time!

OK first time post .. a "johnny come lately" ... let me see how much I have correct and how much is just guestimation.
Tippett signed a contract last time that gave him an "out". Lions & Suns offered good money ($700 & $750k a season). Crows in fact offered more ($800). Tippett nominated Swans as his preference .. they have offered $4m over 4 years .. although this may be a back ended contract with the first year probably below $800k.

So if it goes to PSD Tippett will ask for $4m over 4 years (not just $1m a year). It appears no one else will match this and so he goes to the Swans.

So all this offering draft pick (23 now?) plus Jess White is a courtesy that you would expect from a good honorable Club.

It appears AFC trying to cover themselves by making Tippett and Swans bad guys. It is stand off with Tippett and Swans best to say nothing until deal done.
