It is possible that he nominates for the draft and no one takes him, including us. But we would have to advise him at what contract price we would be willing to take him at, and if he nominated at that price we would have at least a moral commitment to take him if he fell that far down the order. So much depends on the AFL's findings that it's too hard to say what the outcome might be or what we should do.

I hope the tone of my post isn't too OTT, but really, implicit trust and utter faith aren't virtues.

Well sorry that I have complete trust in the coaching and recruiting panels, as far as I'm concerned they seem to know what they are doing, certainly far more than I do so until they start testing my faith I shall continue to trust them.

BTW Trying to be sarcastic toward other posters isn't overly virtuous either.

If that was the case they would let Adelaide delist him and he'd be an unrestricted free agent and could come straight to us. What it does do though, is that if he chooses the PSD then he will still be on Adelaide's list at ND time and they will have to delist another player to make room for their 3 draft choices. That's of course if they have any draft choices!

Good, I hope you do continue to maintain your faith in the Swans coaches and recruiters. And I also hope that you will continue to express that faith in your posts on RWO.
On the other hand I have a considerable distaste for those that interpret the desire to debate things on RWO as a form of disloyalty towards the Swans.
          FYI
I do indeed remember the Ye Olde LRT threads, they started at least 2 years before your joined RWO, and at that time I remember strongly disagreeing with many RWOers that were vitriolic in their condemnation of the lad.

No doubt the Crows will blame Tippett, but they did it to themselves.

If they just honoured their agreement with Tippett, noone would be any wiser. It's obvious the Crows now lack honour, which is a harsh thing to say about a football club....I mean it's a big theme in our song.

These blokes are probably feeling pretty smug given the shredder at the AFC was working overtime before the AFL Cops came a marching into their offices.

How lucky are we all that not only do we support a club who are the 2012 Champions on the field but support a club who also act with integrity and professionalism off it.

Correct; there are some genuine tools on their list. I wonder if the sanctions on the AFC are so draconian that it might bite these tossers on the arse if they wish to be traded or want out under free agancy.

It seems incomprehensible that AFC would be so slack to get themselves into such a sad position. Short minded thinking that has worked against them in the long run. Had they been successful in winning a premiership I wonder how much more @@@@ they would be in now.

I think this article is a hint at how this Tippett debacle will play out:

I seems pretty clear now that Tippett will be a Swan at the end of all this. The club wants him, he wants to come here and nothing will get in the way.

No one will dare dob him in as being culpable. He will come out of this as the innocent victim of professionals that should have known better. Tippett will not be deregistered or suspended or face any serious fine. If he did receive a serious sanction, it would imply that a player cannot rely on his professional management nor his employer (the AFC in this case), to deal with him in a legal manner and would permit him to act in a way that could cause him to lose his job. Furthermore, it could be argued that a player would be required to hire a lawyer to protect himself from being cheated and lied to by his manager, his employer and his parents as well, in order to be safe that they don't get him in hot water.

Everyone other than KT will have to fall on their respective swords and take the hit, regardless of what happened in actuality. Anyway, I wouldn't think that a 22 yo surfer boy is going to bamboozle his father, the AFC and Velocity Sports into forcing them all into an arrangement that could cause so much damage. As has been suggested elsewhere, these sorts of back door deals go on all the time. This one just got found out.

By hook or by crook, the AFL will ensure that KT gets to the Swans. If he goes into the ND, it will be because the AFL has come to an agreement with Sydney that they should lose their first round draft pick since this was on the table before the AFL pulled the deal, in effect, authorised draft tampering. Otherwise he will fall to us in the PSD, unless the AFL changes its mind and allows the AFC to delist him in the next few days.

In the end, the AFL will not risk this going to the courts, as the above article points out.

                          __________________________________________________ _____________________________

Assuming this all comes to pass, and knowing how the Adelaide fans have taken this, I can imagine that KT will receive death threats prior to games scheduled in Adelaide next season (at least vs the AFC), and I wonder if we will risk taking him there. I think this could be a big story next year.

Or if Adelaide beat Hawthorn in the PF, since Tippett was such a star that day. Regardless of the outcome of the GF, you can hear the Hawks screaming "Premiership Stolen by Cheating Crows"

On SEN today, Greg Swan Carlton's CEO said there was about 120 third party deals. This was in reply to a question as to whether the renewal of the Chris Judd 3rd party deal had been approved by the AFL. That's about 16% of all players. So it appears that the higher paid players are on 3rd party deals. That to me is a staggering number.
