@AnnieH: You're going on the advice of Crows supporters??!! Surely their opinions are likely to be biased. Even if they were shared before this sorry saga, it seems like the Crows faithful and Kurt were on the rocks for some time.
I'm a first time poster but long time reader and have followed all 200+ pages of this thread with interest.
FWIW, I think the reality of Tippett is somewhere in between the two most common perceptions debated here: big-headed fool who knew about the dodgy deals, and honest to goodness decent bloke who just wants to go surfing and play footy and has been righteously screwed by his management and club. There's a bit of truth in both caricatures.
But let's face it - even as reigning premiers (WOO HOOOOO!!!), the biggest hole on our list is a genuine power forward who can take the number 1 defender and free Sammy and Goodesy up to work some magic. In a way, it could be said power forwards need to have an element of big-headedness about them to beat top defenders, take screamers and kick bags every week. Obviously the no dickheads policy is core of our club, but you can have that self-confident swagger and not be a complete tool. Tippett is no Fevola or Carey. So Kurt, fingers crossed for December 13 and let's hope we see you in red and white real soon.

I would be listening to my own clubs opinion on Tippett before I'd listen to Crows supporters pissed off because he can't wait to get out of dodge.

Terrific first post and welcome. Completely agree on the no dickhead comment as well.

Mitch Morton gave us a terrific insight to our culture on GF day. It's about trust.... If the players trust you to do the things required of a Swans player then you'll play. You can have that self confident swagger or a larriken streak but as long as you buy into the culture and the players trust you then you'll play.

The Swans are obviously confident Tippett will fit in with the Swans culture and Tippett himself is obviously confident he can do the same.

The amusing thing about the Crow peeps calling Tippett a dickhead is the same peeps are probably in love with Tex Walker.

Now he's the definition of a dickhead if I've ever seen one...

                Annie really??? Crows fans???
If you have an afternoon to waste and feel like a good laugh, read the Tippett thread on the Crows forum at BF from go to woe (you do need a lot of time, 860+ pages at last count ), my lordy it's a funny read, talk about delusional, that will give you an insight into the very skewed way Crows fans now look at Tippett.
Ask your Crows supporting mates what they thought of Tippett in 2009 when AFC where doing the shonky deals to keep him, none of them thought he was a DH then, more likely the messiah!

Welcome and spot on cyanide about full forwards needing to be big headed, I struggle to think of one good power forward who isn't big headed, but being big headed doesn't equate to being a dick head.

With our current list we will be a very, very good team in 2013, with Tippett we will be awesome!

Tex has turned it around though from what I can see. He's an absolute gun on the field and has kept out of stride off it this year. Well done to him. If I could have any forward In the comp to play for the swans id take Tex. He is only going to Get better.

Good player for sure, but total knob on the field. Robbo on 360 was on his case a bit as well and highlighted little @@@@ things he would do like sling guys into the posts, knee guys when getting up after a contest, try to push guys into the fence when off balance and so on. It became almost a weekly thing with him, just not necessary.

It's just my pet hate. The rules don't allow you to stand toe to toe and go at it to sort things out. If they did, a lot of the niggly @@@@ which irritates the life out of me would not go on. Guys like Didak thrive in the knowledge they are unlikely to get 'payback' and run around puffing their chest out where in truth they'd be lucky to knock the skin off a rice pudding.

Walker's an ordinary bloke in my view, only exceeded by his ordinary haircut....

Its not that they dont understand, its more that Crows supporters are so one-eyed & biased that their club couldn't possibly do anything wrong. It's ALWAYS someone else's fault.

It might come back to night them more than they think. They get to keep 3 crappy (thanks to their high finish this season) draft picks THIS draft (one if which they feel obliged to use re-drafting Nick Joyce who they delisted because of Tippett). Next year if they finish lower, they will have more & better picks which they will hopefully be stripped of (causing an even lower finish the following year ... and if Carlton has set a precedent, they will again be stripped of even better picks in 2014).

He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

The only thing is Crows supporters often turn rapidly on players who leave (ESPECIALLY when they WANT to leave) ... in the Advertiser past players are incredulously asking why he wouldn't want to stay when the Crows were paying him well (the Swans are offering more), the Crows looked after him (the Swans have a reputation for looking after new recruits), the Crows are potentially a Premiership contender (ummmm, the Swans just won one?!). More to the point, after 6 years, some people just want a change. South Aussies often cannot comprehend that not everyone wants to live in a non-progressive fishbowl, that has a lower average wage, higher utility stamp duty costs ... & the shops generally shut as the sun sets or at any sign of a public holiday.
