I'm not so sure. Martin is older than Buddy, 34 this year. So he could easily break down. We don't have a Tim English in our side if he does.

And I think a 3 year deal should mean that our ruck problem is solved in the medium term. No guarantees with Naismith given his ACLs.

AA value needs to be viewed in the context that he’s contracted, another club approached him as a contracted player, and offered him a 4 year deal. If this scenario unfolded next as when he becomes a RFA the compo pick probably would have been better !

The sky isn’t falling, but it’s okay for people to be disappointed with this deal. Most Swans fans on Twitter are, and most Port fans seem to think they’ve managed to snag a very favourable deal.

Looks like the Hickey deal just went through to...

We are @@@@@@ in the head this year.

I understand the need for a ruck and the overabundance of quality Backman that we have but both of those deals are @@@@ house and reek of desperation

Agree with the age - you are correct. However, then what is the point of keeping Naismith? Our strategy should have changed. We should have made the hard call...

You didn't factor in the Loss of AA and the second round future draft pick for next year (which is meant to be a bumper draftl)... poor deal from Sydney's perspective

Should be no shortage of clubs to see what we have to offer tomorrow

I can't see us drafting a ruckman until the matter of Naismith's future is resolved, which will probably be toward the end of next season. If Naismith miraculously comes through, we would have 3 ruckmen going into the 2022 season. There may be more than one in-season draft, so if it look like the end of the line for Naismith, we might pick up a young ruckman during the year or in the next post season. We might even go after Hayes if he can't get a game next year, with Lycett and Ladhams filling the ruck spots.

To all those that think we should be happy with our trading, they should take a massive reality check... Two really poor deals

Terrible form to slate a new Swan. You'll be cheering against him to prove your point.

I'm pleased. I think he'll be the first choice ruck in Naismith's absence, and offer more than Sinclair at ground level.

Good trade, too. We have improved 395 points in this year's draft. When that's offset against the losses next year, it's probably worth an early third round pick in next year's draft.

No... I won't be cheering against him. I am a true supporter that cares. However, I am merely voicing my opinion that he is a player who compared to the others that were on offer, is a very poor choice (or alternatively the strategy is poor). SO before you cast aspersions, remember that one has the right to voice his/her opinions. But I do hope he is a success, despite my analysis of his performance

After those 2 trades and on reflection I think we have got what was needed. Hickey is ok as a tap ruckman which is what RWOers have been screaming out for and what we needed. As I have said many times if we break even on centre clearances we immediately become a better side.

On Allir; it appears that to gain a ruckman we needed to find cap space and when Port approached Allir that gave us an option. They offered him a 4 year deal, so to match it we would have had to extend him for another 3 years and offer him more cash, which it appears the cap didn't allow. Maybe the club doesn't rate him as highly as many supporters. Maybe they think the defenders who he is competing with for a spot offer more value.

You're right - you are of course entitled to an opinion. My opinion is that it's good form to welcome and support players who have joined our club (i.e. started at a new workplace), and give them a chance to prove themselves.
