I respect your political views Ludwig ( though I don’t agree with them) however they should be kept out of sports.
I admit that professional sport has flaws. If you don’t like it, follow amateurs where participants don’t get paid. There is plenty of local football being played all around the country. But if you want to watch and follow AFL, then I suggest you accept that not all players are of equal value: just compare Buddy to our 22 nd player in our team and tell me how that player should be remunerated, eg a James Bell- no disrespect James!
You can't keep politics out of sport, sport is inherently political. What you are saying to Ludwig is keep your politics out of sport.
I work in an organisation (the ABC) where everyone in the same band is paid the same amount (based on a combination of age, experience, ability etc). I think its way fairer than the alternative where people are paid according to how well they can negotiate. Things can get very ugly when people discover that the person working for them is paid more than they are.Comment

I couldnt pick Dawsons partner out of a line up. My eldest granddaughter who is 22 works with her doing "pilates " (WTF is that now ? ) She said she had a meeting over "Zoom" where she said goodbye to staff including my granddaughter . Said it was very sad and she was emotional. They are out of here .
I know about the ratbags through other meansComment

Roadrunner, surely you are aware that the AFL is a heavily controlled system with all sorts of equalisation measures in place like the draft, salary cap, soft cap etc. I'm not going to say that's socialism, but its certainly not a capitalist free market. And its to the benefit of the game. Or would you rather we were like the Premier League where teams can buy success?

Contract length offered (5 years)+
Contract price offered ($650k)+
Age (23) +
Contracted or uncontracted (uncontracted)
= Pick 10-20 for instance
Would then give a starting point for negotiations and show who is dealing in good faith and who isnt.Comment

With respect, you can’t compare professional sport to the ABC or a similar organisations. Firstly, the ABC is not a business but more importantly it isn’t competing with anyone. It has no need to attract the best in the business by paying a premium, which is not the case in professional sports, where winning is what it’s all about. So, if we paid all our players based on Ludwig’s ideas or similar, we would have a mediocre team at best and never win anything!
By this logic, why would we be upset about losing Jordan and being offered way unders by the Crows?
I understand that you are happy how you are being paid- there is a certain warmth and harmony attached to it. I’ve been in business all my working life and the reality is I could never implement such a remuneration system as no 2 people worked the same way or produced equivalent results.
Now let’s get the best deal for losing Jordan, which I’m sure KB and his team will do.Comment

You are right, Dawson and partner are not coming back to Sydney. Unfortunately we have to accept that. And salvage the best compensation we can get.Comment

Each of the young women included in that meeting, including Dawson’s partner, subsequently put up photos and quite emotional posts on Instagram.

Have trouble accepting Dawson going given his talent and importance to the team. However, to be fair to Adelaide, they have lost a lot of players over the years to the go home factor including stars like Dangerfield, Gunston and Cameron. On analysis, it is hard to begrudge them.Comment

Not a question of begrudging them, Blood Fever. Just getting as fair a deal as possible, while recognising that Jordan will not be adequately compensated for. With the names mentioned, I believe they received reasonable compos, but could be mistaken. Bottom line: happens to all clubs at some stage. No excuse for the Crows not to give us some fair draft picks as our offer was pretty workable with a little tweaking!
