Reading of the reasons for Tippett choosing Sydney makes me feel a little happier - if we get him.

I agreed with Mick Malhouse's question of how come Tippett, who turned down a very good offer to stay with a very good team where he must have had very good friends, in order to go home, is now open to going elsewhere? However, if he likes the beach lifestyle and has family and friends in Sydney as well as Gold Coast, it sounds like Sydney meets those criteria, and then an offer from a team in a premiership window rather than a team in building mode would be very tempting. It also sounds like he is aware that the Bloods culture might be a challenge, though probably not how much if he is a bit 'precious'. So not quite so much a 'mercenary' as it at first appeared.

Even though it would be good to have him for team structure going forward, it seems like the cost of getting him is too high.

If we trade Parker to get Tippett I will never be a swans member again surely we would not be that dumb...............in all honesty I dont want to trade Grundy either..................If we have so much spare cash lets sign our young guns up on longer term deals and give Josh Kennedy anything he wants. Let our recruiters scour OZ for a ready made tall forward from one of the many leagues around, sure to be hidden gems ready to go
I've heard that they are so angry they are going to form a union......

Look I'm almost 100% certain that every time this club searches out a player to trade for the leadership group give the big tick before it all goes ahead. I'm calling bull@@@@. How many times have we heard about players coming here after Hanners or Kizza ect. meet them for a chat and sell the club?

I've very skeptical about the rushing to the board, livid senior players.

But they were relatively unproven players who only had potential, not a premiership player.

I will be happy if we trade either of White/Everitt/Spangher/Meredith/Walsh(Doubtful since he has only been on the list 1 yr)/Gordon/TDL and a pick or combination of players to Adelaide or another club as part of a deal, but i don't want to loose any of the GF 22, McGlynn or Rohan.

Tippett will be a major improvement to our forward line, but how to fit him in is the problem.

Im pretty confident the club wont trade any of our premiership players unless they actually want to move on.

thread on Big Footy says we still had $400k for Bradshaw in our cap for 2012. Anyone know if this is right.

No-one can be forced into a trade - it is always the player's decision in the end.

I think people suggesting we can package up some combo of White, TDL, Everitt, Walsh and Meredith to secure Tippett need to think again. I doubt any of those guys would fetch even a second round draft pick.

This article appears to confirm the reported clause in Tippett's contract sayinghe can be traded for a second round pick...
First round pick and a fringe player could get the deal across...

Its looking like White plus a draft pick to me.

Or 2 draft picks with white on traded for a pick.

After calming down a bit I have finally come to some sort of perspective. Goodesy, Bolton, O'Keefe are all in the 31-32 age bracket. LRT is going to be 30 come next year, aswell as Pyke who will turn 29 next year. Once Goodes, Bolton, O'Keefe retire we will have alot of cap space freed up. Add to LRT and maybe Pyke moving on in their coming years we will need a backup ruckman to help big mumford. Aswell as a key forward when we lose LRT and Goodes. Tippett will fill both those voids. Add that to extending the contracts of our young gun midfielders, the club will have the necessary room to extend and pay the boys their due contract diligence. Im confident Horse and our football department know what their doing.
LRT. Lord Roberts-Thompson. He may look like the Munster, but looks can be deceiving.

Having a proper forward would be pretty good.

                                Tippett?

There is no way they will accept a second rounder. Best case scenario for us is 1st round plus Jesse White.
