I imagine that Tippett thought that he was getting a third party deal that was all above board, after all he's doing ads for this mob, its not a secret, its on tv. Im starting to feel he might have been innocent and will now get to Sydney for sure (because the AFL are in a bad place if he is completely innocent, and they have stopped the trade to Sydney)

    Welcome Big Fella.

Steady down guys..Tippett has still said not one word during this whole shindig...not ONE!

Talk of him being a d-head and playing the market and all the rest is simply conjecture..no more, no less. There is simply no evidence..all the AFC chatter is still to be tested , as is the paper talk.

I carry no brief in this matter, but have an interest in a fair assessment and an honest result. Oh, and a very handy forward/ruckman.

Well said royboy42. Let's see what surfaces. (But I am very skeptical of AFC's claim that they came forward freely. I think Trigg came back from OS, didn't like the trade that was about to be submitted, got spooked by the Crow supporter and Adelaide media outrage and sought AFL advice on whether Tippett could enforce their 2009 deal. Unfortunately for them (and us) the AFL said "What deal?". Then the excrement hit the rotating cooling device!)

We don't know enough yet, and perhaps never will, but I strongly suspect that if AFC had accepted the Swans' offer in the first place, none of this stuff would have come to light. As it is, not only have they cut off their nose to spite their face by refusing the best draft pick we could give them but it seems they are up to their neck in trouble they have brought on themselves by their sheer incompetence.
We live in interesting times, compared to most off-seasons.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

I really just want to post on the 200th page so will add that I have faith in our recruiting department - and feel that Tippett has been very tactful since this all broke - and determined, too, while the Crows and much of Adelaide city have performed like complete knobs, Rucci at the top of the list.

I hope the club gets nailed (and I think they will), the officials get sacked, GWS is frozen out and Tippett gets to go where he wants as they agreed several years ago.

After the Balfour ad video I looked at a couple of the Crows interview videos of Tippett. He seems like a really simple nice person. I don't get any sort of impression that he's a money hungry mercenary as has been suggested by some. He mentioned the importance of his family too many times for it to be contrived. And why should he have any idea about how the 3rd party deals were arranged. He would just be told to do a few ads and get paid $30K. From his perspective, it sounds perfectly above board.

How about we all take some 'chill out' tablets and not get personal?
As Swans supporters we're better than that...arent we?

Hear hear let's focus on what we share in common (our love for this great club), rather than what separates us (our opinions on a certain matter)

Is it possible that this thread can beat Michael Clarke's first inning of 259?!

No, Clarkes innings was all quality with barely a false shot.

Agreed....I've certainly seen nothing that would suggest Tippett is anything but a professional trying to maximize his Income while getting out of a place he's clearly not happy at.

First thing. Like Lance Armstrong and Melbourne Storm, Adelaide are cheats. They deserve no respect. The rules are clear, they cheated as they thought. They were close to a Premiership.

Club owns the salary cap, not the player. Tippet is just caught up in their cheating and incompetence.

I have not heard of any evidence that Tippet encouraged them to break the rules

That's a stretch. He had plenty. Was very lucky a few times.

This is all true, but surely Tippet was aware of the deal, and knew it was breaking the rules.
I wonder if he had a chat with his manager at the time about it.
