Tippett is a mighty asset; how could any sane person think otherwise? Money well spent imo.
Good to see Mike Pyke up there in the 20 goal bracket.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

Off topic - but Brandon Jack has played 6 games. Who would have thought?

And who would have thought that Scott would produce a table with information that adds to the discussion AGAIN

          Yes it is!!

The big loser in that table is McVeigh.
He was our most damaging small forward, until moved down back about rnd 5.

          No one I guess.
But the good news is we are getting some good game time into youngsters who probably would not have gotten a game until next year at the earliest, without the injury toll.

He should be able to warm himself with an AA jumper to help him get over it!

              Another Tippett moves to Sydney!!

No, not Joel....Gretel Tippett, their younger sister, has signed up to play with the NSW Swifts for the 2014 ANZ Championship season.

              The NSW Swifts

This really belongs more in the Other Sports forum, but I assumed we were keeping anything even tangentially related to Kurt Tippett in this thread. And technically, she will be playing in a dress that has the Sydney Swans logo on it

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

It's interesting that she's ended up playing netball, she was an elite junior basketballer- and I'm talking absolute top of the tree, she got a fair bit of press (for basketball in this country!) a few years ago because she made the u19 national team when she was only 15 or so (and could actually dunk).
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

I think the story is that she took a bit of time out of basketball due to injury and decided that she didn't have the passion for it anymore - and started playing netball.

As an aside, she is dating Gold Coast ruckman Tom Nicholls. Is he any good and if so, perhaps he might want to be traded to us as well

I'd take Nicholls in a flash. He's awesome!

Worrying about what we're paying him should have no impact on how one feels about him as a player. We offered him that money to keep him out of the reach of opposition clubs and so far he's improving our side and has added a completely new dimension.

Tippett will prove to be absolutely fundamental to our side going forward. He is an important cog in the critical evolution of our side. I can't belive there are still some Swans fans debating over whether he was a good pick up. I know there are many people who will say "oh, we didn't need him in the past, so why would we need him now?" Last time I checked, we are in the present, not the past, and there's this thing called the future, which takes all things further and further away from the past. Tippett is part of a successful future.
"Take me down to the Paradise City where the grass is green and the Swans win pretty."

Totally agree. He is a great asset to the team and we are very lucky to have picked him up. The commotion caused by his transfer and the Swans perseverance in getting Tippett was well worth the effort. He will be a vital cog come finals time.

Only 3 goals from being the seasons top goal scorer after today's haul. Kurt you Champ.

6 goals and a few goal assists. Handy pickup.

                                Tippett kicked 6.
                                We won by 35 points.
Irrefutable proof that without him today, we certainly would have lost the game
