Two thirds of his possessions are uncontested, about the same percentage are handballs. His tackling (average 4 per game) is neither good nor bad. His average metres gained is significantly less than your bete noire Rowbottam. He brings little to nothing.Comment

Your not missing much , they make watching footy hard yakka ! We have all been there , reminds me of 93Comment

I’d been an occasional TV watcher till then but never been to a game live. My first one was watching us get utterly pumped by Essendon early in the season but the play was so damn exhilarating, I was hooked. I can’t remember the exact scores but we kicked about 80 in a losing effort. Problem was they kicked about 180!
That was it for me.'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

‘93 was when I got into footy.

Back then 80 was a low score . Hard to believe how its changed . Winning side tonight kicked 84
Cant remember my first game . Remember i got into it when Bobby had already won his 1st Brownlow . Watch out for the lad in 14 my brother said , what a ripper he is . Down i went and 3 games in a row Bobby was quiet . I thought everyone was having a lend of me ! From that point on he never had 2 quiet ones in a row for the rest of his days ! Met him years later at Paddo and mentioned how he had a quiet one so i never got the fuss to start with , he looked like he was ready to turn my lights out ! Ripper of a blokeComment

But who couldn’t see a game of AFL live and not get into it. Watching last weekend was so much fun after 2 1/2 years away from a live game'Delicious' is a fun word to sayComment

I believe Bud will play on next year.
I don't believe he wants to leave the swans unless he sees a team like Freeo has just as much chance if not more than the swans to win a GF.
If the Franklins as a family want to head back for a year close to his family in WA than Freeo would probably love to have Bud in their window.
Jacinta was pretty clear about a year away after footy.......it almost felt like she was sending an indirect message to Freeo and or softening a departure.
Despite this possibility Bud will be at the Swans in 2023 unless we actually decide to take on another longer term elite player that is in the clubs best interest."be tough, only when it gets tough"

Buddy - we'll do what's in the best interests of the club.
If we have cap space for his asking price we'll do it. If we don't or have another more important trade in earmarked for some of those $, we'll do that.
No player (almost) is bigger than the club,
Whoever suggested Matt Crouch - go and read the Crows BF threads. A slow ball magnet with limited hurt factor. Crows midfield mainstays Keays, Laird and Crouch had exactly 100 possessions between them last week for just 534 metres gained!Comment

I'm less bullish now of trading for a quality midfielder elsewhere as I believe between Stephens, Campbell, Roberts and Sheldrick they have the goods to help take our midfield to the next level. They need opportunities to show they can do so, which recruiting a quality midfielder will limit their opportunities and create further cap space squeeze. Keep building from within and less risk of losing good young talent because lack of opportunities.
I think Ruck division is still our biggest weakness particularly when up against quality opposition. Ladhams is our only quality long term prospect we can rely upon at the moment.Comment

I don't have a firm view, and trust our list managers. All opinions are not equal. Some are a very great deal more robust, sophisticated, and well supported in logic and argument than others. -Douglas Adams, author (11 Mar 1952-2001)Comment

Given our list is in good shape, I don't think we need to bring in too many new players at season's end. North or WCE clearly have a need to bring in multiple young players to really kick-start their rebuilds. Accordingly, I was thinking that we could package together our current two first round picks (13 and 18) which total 2,197 draft points in value in return for a number 3 or 4 pick (equivalent value falls between these two picks). We get an elite pick and they get two first rounders - win/win deal! Obviously these picks may move with father/son, academy selections, priority picks etc but its worth a serious think! I'm trying to think outside of the square here. What do others think?Comment
