As long as there aren't other issues we don't know about it seems that Dunkley would be surplus to requirements.
Sounds like Sam Mitchell's profile before he failed to be drafted. Terry Wallet famously said he was too slow.

      Mitchell could kick, though.

Lycett is a true ruckman as compared to Sinclair who is a tall forward who can play a ruck relief role. I don't think WC can afford to let Lycett go, because he's the only other ruckman on their list besides Natanui, while they can afford to let Sinclair go. They may not mind trading Sinclair, since they probably want to play Lycett in combination with Natanui in the long run. Lycett is too good to spend his career in the reserves.

I think Sinclair suits us well in a combination with Tippett. Both are really forward-rucks who can take marks around the ground and kick goals. This has worked well for Hawthorn over the years. If you have a strong midfield you don't need a dominant ruckman, just someone who competes well in the ruck and around the ground.

Sinclair sounds like the type of person who'd slip into the Bloods pretty easily judging from Emma Quayle's article. He knows what it takes to do to keep on improving. 26 yo 200cm 98kg and watching him on Saturday he looks like a guy about ready to hit his straps - just the type we like. He gave Goldstein a few headaches and reads the play very well.

Are people assuming we won't go after/get Leuenberger or Smith? Both would be better options than the WCE rucks surely?

Leuenberger is apparently highly likely to go to Freo and Smith is Restricted so we would have to give a pick or a player up, Sinclair may not be number one ruck but Lycett is.

I doubt the West Coast will willingly give up either Lycett or Sinclair. It would leave them very thin on depth in the ruck. But (and this assumes they are interested in Jetta) they will be getting an automatic first 22 player, certainly for us and you'd think for them too. Jetta provides the one thing they don't really have in their team currently. Sure, Jetts isn't the most consistent player but he is definite x-factor. And he is in the prime years, age wise. They can't get him in the PSD, you'd think. Not unless they offer him a silly amount of money. So they need to give up a high draft pick - their first at least - or a solid first 22 player for them and us.

Be good if some of the bigger deals could get done early in the trade period. So many smaller deals get held up waiting for the more significant ones every year because they often involve picks as well so clubs don't know exactly what picks they will have.

So we need Dangerfield, Bennell and Treloar done early in trade week/fortnight. Bennell and McCarthy (who GWS say won't be traded) are deals that could stall the Jetta trade.

Agree with Liz, there is no way in the world they are letting Sinclair or Lycett go. Leunburger or Smith are our best bets for a ruck, if we need to trade for Smith presumably the pick we get for Jetta would do the trick

It's good to be back after a couple of months in Europe!

I've definitely missed this site, pity about the finals but it was a somewhat fitting end to a poor season.

I agree that a combination of Tippett and Sinclair would be a wonderful prospect...I'd much prefer that than wasting $$ on Leuenberger, Sinclair is much more versatile than Leuenberger and also a few years younger. I'd also assume he'd come cheaper.

However I still don't think it's a fair trade given what Jetta will be able to do for them on Subiaco...maybe Sinclair plus a third round pick to give us some extra points?

Sinclair and a third round pick??? Maybe too much celebrating with the European beer??

Jetta is walk-up start in either of those sides. He's done far more than Lycett or Sinclair to this point and is heading towards his prime. Definitely worth a first-rounder in my view.

Not going to deny there was far too much european beer! (Augustiner was my favourite at Otktoberfest if anyone cares) but Jetta has serious value and huge upside. There's very few players in the game capable of doing what he does...and I've got the feeling that he will really shine once he returns home.

But the fact is that he will go home and I doubt that we would stop him by forcing him to the PSD. In all of these situations it is the destination club that holds the power and we just have to salvage what we can out of the situation. WCE will hold out for as long as they can and will offer unders for him, but if we get one of those two ruckmen then I would be happy.

The Eagles have been reasonably fair traders in recent years. Fortunately, he doesn't want to go to Essendon!
