Sydney vs Fremantle, 22nd May 2010 - Match Report
Another year, another RWO match report. In hindsight, this was a bad one to pick. I try to snare Freo at home because we are usually guaranteed a win, and the Dockers give me a giggle in a "they're so inoffensive, it's hard to hate them" sort of way. Little did I expect that I would go into this game having missed watching the last two games entirely through various circumstances - as far as I was concerned, the last time I saw a game, we were on fire and on top of the ladder! So what ha... -

Swans lose spark as Hall fires.
The Swans struggled for the second week in a row as they went down to the skilful Bulldogs by 38 points in the Nation?s Capital.
The Swans were hit hard even before arriving in Canberra, losing Moore to an ankle injury and Mumford to suspension as a result of a bruising encounter... -

Cats make Swans pay for poaching Mumford - Round 7 Match report
The word on the street was that the Geelong Cats were still upset at the Sydney Swans for poaching their up and coming Ruckman, Shane Mumford, and the proceeding game on Sunday May 9 was case in point. After a solid first half effort by the Swans, the Cats pulled away after half-time piling on 12 goals to four in the second half in a 19.12 (126) to 9.5 (59) percentage boosting win for the reigning premiers. Before the match, I had hopes that if the Cats were still upset at the Swans that this,...

PREVIEW: Swans take on history and the Cats
Sydney vs Geelong, Round 7. Skilled Stadium, Sunday May 9, 1.10pm
For all the talk of ?one week at a time?, history weighs heavily on footy, and it?s certainly making its presence felt at Skilled Stadium on Sunday.
The Cats haven?t lost there since 2007. They?ve won their last 18 at Skilled and if you include ?home games? at Etihad and the MCG - the AFL does - they hold the league record for 25 home wins in a row. Since the Swans last beat them in round 5, 2006 at ... -

RESERVES REPORT - Swans v Eastlake
Sorry for delay and lack of the inspired reporting you are usually spoilt with. ORB didn't make the game and he is the principle player, I am just backup, and not very good one either. It was a relatively high scoring game with Belconnen taking the cudos for accuracy at 14.4.88, but Swans winning at 16.8.104. A better showing than last week with a lot more intensity right from the beginning. Frosty is making his presence felt as coach. . MikePyke has improved a great deal, especial... -

Sydney v West Coast, Round 5, match review
The weather was a little weird, but the temperature outstanding for the latest nouvelle 'traditional rivalry' to play for some kind of minor cup or trophy: Sydney v West Coast. That said, what followed was hardly an appropriate inaugural match for commemorating the horror of war, and the ultimate sacrifice made by those on board the HMAS Sydney II on 19 November 1941. (A more fitting game would... -

Reserves Report Rnd 3 - Sydney V Ainslie
By Primmie and ORB.
Photos by ScottH The first quarter was a fairly lacklustre affair. The midfield domination seen in the first couple of home matches was not there - not surprising given that the team has lost its gun inside midfielder to the ones, nor are they likely to get him back! Lack of pressure from the Swans mids was also allowing Ainslie to pass the ball into their forward line with some precision. Poor goal kicking early on was also a problem, and as usual the main culprit was... -

Round 4: Sydney v North Melbourne
What a day? 28C, Sunny with little cloud. A perfect for the beach. But the footy is on. First away game in Melbourne, and a good chance of a win against the Roo?s who, except for last week?s win over West Coast, have struggled so far this season under their new coach. Goodes loses the toss, the ball is bounced and the small crowd goes silent. It would?ve been noisier at the beach. The waves would make more noise. In a tightish opening contest, gopher/might mouse opens our account with a behi... -

by joemoore12Not since 1200 of the South Melbourne faithful made the return train journey to Geelong for the first match of the 1909 football season, have Swans supporters held such a sense of anticipation for the year ahead. Familiar faces have moved on to greener pastures, and some to opposition clubs. A fresh-faced brigade of youngsters are bracing to make their mark, and the club has never before in its proud history, enjoyed the position of off-field strength that it now holds. On Saturday, the Sydney Swans...

Having spent three years living in Dublin, I?m well versed in the joys of ?having the craic.? It?s how my friends from the Emerald Isle describe a good time. Let the good times roll?
Pre-game:Once completing my penultimate teaching degree on Friday, the Swanette and I boarded a most familiar flight from Hobart to Melbourne. It just makes sense to do so ? my brother lives there, my S...-

by joemoore12Old Mates & Old Foes ?Mateship? is a concept that can be traced back to early colonial times. The harsh environment in which convicts and new settlers found themselves meant that men and women closely relied on each other for all sorts of help. In Australia, a ?mate? is more than just a friend. It?s a term that implies a sense of shared experience, mutual respect and unconditional assistance. I?ve been mates with Shep since we were pre-teens, growing up together on the sporting fields of ...

by joemoore12What a harrowing week. What a shockingly shameful week. For the past six days, distorting truths has become as much a sport as football is. For the past six days, a great Australian has been shown such a lack of respect and common decency, that I?ve been ashamed of my fellow Australian. Today, the Sydney Swans will play the Adelaide Crows at the SCG. Adam Goodes will not be playing. We all know the reasons why. It saddens me, and many others, that a man who shows exemplary respect and understandi...

by joemoore12For the past four years, I have attempted to juggle full-time study with full-time employment. This has resulted in a full-time headache. However, the end is nigh, and it is now more than ever, that I appreciate the unquestionable need to seek the support of old friends. This week has meant exams. Exams mean study, and study means no footy until the weekend. Not ideal. Not at all. It?s been a long week. But, like an old and trusted friend, the Sydney Swans wait for me at the end of a week...

by joemoore12May 29, 2015. The Bloods have been afforded the privileged honour of kicking-off this year?s Indigenous Round. This proud club has a rich history of highly-skilled, hard-working and much-loved Indigenous heroes. From Elkin Riley of the 1950?s, to Abiana Davis who was drafted late last year, the Red & White faithful have adored and admired our Indigenous footballers. As we take on the Blues, thoughts of current and former favourites take hold. Tonight is a celebration. Helping to celebrate the contrib...
